Guerlain has a special place in my heart, being the legacy of this brand or the products, everything it does is luxurious. Luxurious not just in the sense of the formula, packaging, products but also when it comes to giving to the environment. I attended the beauty back to school session with Guerlain Canada team and I am more than a fan of this brand after knowing what they do behind the scenes. It was my first time that I met Maxime Poulin, International Makeup Artist for Guerlain and Guerlain team, it was such a nice experience for a person who being a nerd all life and now after knowing the importance and impact of self-care in the means of makeup or skincare, it did widen my horizons about this whole concept. I received the products in the beauty class and I have used them few times before writing this post. Guerlain Fall 2017 Collection is all about lips, Kisskiss Matte and Liquid Velvet.
Guerlain Kisskiss Matte (CAD $44) is the french kisskiss in a matte version. It is a hydrating and plumping matte lipstick, which is intense like a lipstick and comfortable like a balm. The Imperceptible spice extract in the formula gives the illusion of voluminous lips. The precious oils provide nourishment and hydrate the lips. The new generation of hyaluronic acid provides volume and curve to the lips. The Iconic packaging of the kisskiss is adorned with a golden matte veil which looks very stunning. It is available in 9 captivating shades for all occasions.
Guerlain Intense Liquid Matte (CAD $40) is a creamy velvet lip color. The formula is created with hyaluronic acid and tiger grass which ensures a soft and enjoyable sensation on the lips. Gloss d’Enfer iconic packaging is reinvented in its most glamorous and elegant black tie and dye version. I have used both these lip products and both are very comfortable to wear. They are hydrating and the staying power is good. The formula is very pigmented. I was sent Kisskiss Matte in Shade M330 Spicy Burgundy and Intense Liquid Matte in M71 Exciting Pink, both are swatched at the end of this post. It is available in 7 hypnotic shades for every mood.
Apart from the above new launches for the fall collection, sharing few other new favorites from Guerlain. Guerlain Kisskiss Liplift Smoothing Lipstick Primer (CAD $44) is a smoothing base in a stick which helps define lip contour, smoothes and prepares the lips for long lasting makeup. The texture is very creamy, rich and supple which does stay on without any slippery feeling, that is why the lipstick will stay on for a long time. It is available in one neutral translucent shade which helps preserve and enhance the color of lipstick. I did not notice any feathering of the lipstick while using this as the base. The fragrance of this primer is subtle vanilla-violet with the sparkling scent of berries.
Guerlain Meteorites Baby Glow Touch (CAD $48) is described as a luminizer stick with meteorites mix of colors that allow creating an easy strobing. The shade “Golden Glow” is something that will work perfectly to enhance the complexion without looking unnatural. It does give that natural effect which is an enhanced version of your own self with revived complexion. It has a delicate violet fragrance. The formula is created with Stardust technology which has diamond powder encapsulated in microspheres to create soft focus perfecting halo, like an ideal mix of correcting and illuminating colors. I apply it on the top of my cheekbones, bridge of the nose, cupids bow, angles of my eyebrows and it gives the perfect natural radiance. I blend it by tapping my finger on it.
Guerlain Terracotta Sun Trio (CAD $63) is described as the first Guerlain Bronzer and contouring powder that combines three shades in one palette, to tan, contour, and light the complexion. The finish is ultra-natural matte. The fragrance is the signature terracotta scent which I am a fan, the best part of applying makeup when I am using my Guerlain Terracotta bronzer. There are three ways described to use this powder. For easy and sunny contouring, the bottom bronzing shade is applied by tracing 3 on each side of the face and then shaded areas are created by the top right darker shade under the cheekbones to the sides of the forehead and along the sides of the nose. The light shade is applied to the temples and under the outer corner of the eyes and the t-zone. For a natural glow, all the shades and blended together and applied as per the need. The natural shade does work very well to provide an all over glow to the face for my medium tan skin tone with yellow undertones.
Guerlain Blurring Active Base (CAD $52) is multi purpose product which is a makeup base as well as provides skin care benefits. It blurs the appearance of pores and provides a shine-free complexion. The texture is non-greasy and feels very fresh on the skin. It contains UrbanProtect Complex which has antioxidant properties similar to Vitamin E and helps fight pollution and protects the skin by targeting free radicals. It works very well as a makeup base and keeps the makeup last longer, and also as a skincare product which can be used as such over the skincare products as the last step. It is available in one universal white rosy shade which is invisible upon application.
Being a Guerlain products consumer since last few years, the products are per expectations and I am satisfied with the results. What is your favorite from this collection? Which Guerlain Product is on your wishlist?
By Terry Expert 2017 Collection is all about fulfilling every mood and whim of a selfie-lover with no filter. In this era where selfie’s play an important part of our daily lives and routines, something that enhances your beauty making you go without filter is a game changer. This cultural trend of looking photo ready all the time for selfies inspired Terry de Gunzburg to create this collection. By Terry has launched two new products this season called Compact-Expert Dual Powder and Stylo-Expert Click Stick. Both the products are created travel-friendly and multifaceted to make them wearable for every lifestyle.
Terry explains, “I wanted to create a collection that provides plenty of benefits without requiring any particular expertise. The objective was to attain a flawless skin that doesn’t require photo touch-ups, but appears just as perfect and clear as it does in real life”. This new collection utilizes I.M.C. Intensive Mimetic Camouflage technology, inspired by the challenges of backstage and photo-shoot makeup sessions. It is formulated with a blend of optical prisms, micro-camouflage pigments, and mineral powders. They all work together to blur imperfections, smooth skin;s overall texture, minimize shine, enhance the natural beauty of the complexion and capture and reflect light giving an instant radiance. I was kindly sent Compact-Expert Dual Powder in Shade 5 and Stylo-Expert Click Stick in Shade 11 for review.
Compact-Expert Dual Powder
Compact – Expert Dual Powder is described as a new hybrid powder with powers of mattifying, illuminating, blushing, bronzing sculpting, strobing and concealing powers. Is there something this powder can not do? Such Multitasker! The powder has matte powder on the outside and iridescent highlighter in the center.
The outer matte powder can be used as a mattifier for shine areas on the face, concealing imperfections, adding warmth to the face depending on the skin tone. The center iridescent highlighter illuminates and complements the outer matte powder. To get the sculpt look, the darker shade can be applied followed by lighter shade to contour the face.
Both shades when blend together gives an all-over natural glow to the complexion. There are eight shades available in these powders and based on the skin tone, they can serve multiple areas. The packaging of this powder is in the By Terry signature dark purple case. The texture of this powder is very buttery, one of the most beautiful texture I have felt and used. The shade 5 Amber Light suits my skin tone perfectly and works as a great all-over powder when blended together.
The center highlighter gives a beautiful natural glow to the skin. The outer matte powder works perfectly to reduce the shine without blocking the glow. The powder blends very easily into the skin and looks super natural. I did not notice any creasing, caking or settling into the lines and other imperfections on the face. I did notice the powder stayed in place all day for over 7 hours and at the end of the day, I was still looking a lot better than I do most of the days. I am a fan and would totally recommend this to anyone who prefers natural yet selfie-ready look all the time.
Stylo-Expert Click Stick
Stylo-Expert Click Stick is described as a silky stick, featuring an ultra creamy, ultra-lightweight formula that serves to cover dark circles, camouflage imperfections and unifies the complexion. Based on the shade and the skin tone, it can be used to sculpt the face. The formula is highly concentrated in pigments and a little product is required to cover most areas of the face. It contains Macadamia oil which is known to provide comfort and moisture to the skin making the product non-drying.
The finish of this product is velvety and radiant. To meet every need and fulfill every whim, Terry de Gunzburg created an application that is incredibly simple to master and perfectly effective: “Pat the product onto the areas that need correcting, as if you were making polka dots, and then blend into the skin with the fingertips or a sponge or brush.” There are 12 colors available in Stylo-Expert Click Stick. The product inside the silky stick is in tapered tear drop shaped tip that reaches every curve and hollow of the face. I like the idea of pressing the stick, press once and the product appears instantly. Shade 11 Amber Brown is a good match for my medium tan skin tone with yellow undertones. I have used it conceal my blemish marks, a small dab of the product on the area is all it needs to cover and conceal it. I like the way it feels, very creamy and blends very well into the skin, without looking extra.
Overall I am a fan and would totally recommend you to give them a try. They are technically crafted and superior as professional makeup products, with the best luxurious feeling and results. Both these products are available on all By Terry retailers and .com websites.
Cleansers are the essential part of skin care routine which makes the face canvas ready for either treatment product or for a moisturizer. this is the first step of a skin care routine and the most important one, and you have to make sure your skin is clean yet not stripped off the moisture when you cleanse it. There are numerous options in the market for oily, combination or problem skin types but to get the one right for your concern and skin type is the main struggle. I have bought and tried so many cleansers, either they are for first cleanse or second cleanse, a good cleanser is always welcome to my skin care stash. Epionce Lytic Gel Cleanser was sent to me for testing and review. I have been enjoying it since last few months as a first cleanse and sometimes as both first and second cleanse in the evenings.
Epionce Lytic Gel Cleanser (USD $36) is an invigorating cleanser and is suitable for oily and problem skin types. It is paraben-free, fragrance-free and non-comedogenic. It is a refreshing anti-microbial cleanser which effectively removes dirt, oil, and makeup. IT does not cause dryness or strip the skin barrier. Also, it helps clear the posed to improve symptoms of oily and acne-prone skin. The key ingredients in this cleanser are Willow bark extract, Marshmallow root extract, and Menthol. The cleanser is housed in a heavy glass bottle with a pump.
This cleanser can be used to cleanse skin prior to chemical peel or microdermabrasion. IT can also be used as a body wash to help treat acne, dermatitis, and psoriasis. It can even be used as a shampoo to help seborrheic dermatitis. This is indeed a multitasking product. I use a pump or two of this cleanser on my wet face and massage it onto my skin, it does sting a little on the eyes. Then I wash with warm water, my skin feels clean, hydrated and ready for the next step in my skincare routine. I do use a cleansing oil or balm as a first cleanse when I have a full on makeup on my face or when I am using mascara or some waterproof or long lasting makeup. Then I follow with this cleanser and then to my treatment products. This has been a nice addition to my cleansers and is very refreshing. It says it is fragrance-free but I do get a subtle lemony (acidy) smell when I use this. It does lather but not much. It does not make my existing breakouts or my skin dry.

Even for most types of dermatitis, I have used it as a shampoo once for my itchy scalp and did feel calmness on my scalp. I am definitely going to try more from this skincare line.
