Since I started taking my love for everything beauty seriously, the most important thing I have noticed for a product to be a hit is the packaging, same like when you see a person, you get a vibe by looking at that person which makes your thoughts or impressions even before talking or knowing the person. Same is in beauty, the product which appeals to your eyes, you check and try that product which starts the reaction which includes your liking or disliking something. When it comes to Burberry, you can rely on the brand name, whether it is the packaging or the product.
I bought the Burberry First Love Palette Blush Highlighter and Burberry Face Silk and Bloom Blush Palette last month to add them to my every growing collection of luxury beauty.
Burberry First Love (CAD $72 excl taxes) is described as a combined blush and highlighter palette for a fresh and luminous rosy-cheek effect. It is inspired by the playful prints and fabrics from our womenswear collections, the limited-edition blush is set within a bold heart-print design fusing bright, matte pink shades with a softer pastel hue. Illuminating pearls are infused in the silky smooth formula to add subtle highlights to cheeks. Easy to blend and build, the two shades can be applied together for a customizable finish.
This is a very pretty pink blush, I know it is difficult to use two shades separately due to the size of the little hearts with darker shade but if you are able to swipe across with a smaller brush, you will love it. The highlighter shade is really pretty too, it does show up nicely on my skin.
Top is the darker shade in the little hearts, middle is the outer shade and bottom is the blended shade of two
When the brush is swirled in both the shades, it comes out as a nice pink glowy shade which works both as a blush and a highlighter. As usual, my first concern is the product to show up on my medium tan skin tone, which it does beautifully. The staying time is nice for over 6-7 hours on my cheeks. The texture is soft and very silky, which makes the blending easy.
Silk and Bloom Blush Palette (CAD $72 excl taxes) is described as an illuminating face powder, for a soft glow with a hint of color. Taking inspiration from runway designs and fabrics, the palette is set within a geometric print pattern referencing antique wallpaper sourced from London’s Victoria and Albert Museum. Combining subtle rosy color and illuminating pearls, the soft-as-silk powder creates a glowing, flushed effect on cheeks. The lightweight and easily blendable powder formula can be layered for custom intensity, with a non-chalky finish.
This palette can be used as a blush or as a highlighter for a soft glow. The shade is medium mauve, very similar but different from pink. The staying power of this blush palette is 7-8 hours and it is very soft in texture which makes it very easily blendable and it is easily buildable too. This blush does have a shimmer and shine, like a noticeable sheen which did not emphasize pores or skin’s natural texture but gives a radiant finish.
Top is Silk and Bloom Blush Palette, Bottom is Burberry First Love
Overall, I am in love with the packaging and the product in these two palettes. Both are beautiful shades of pink. As they are very much buildable, they would work on all the skin tones giving a radiant, glowy pink finish which does stay on for a quite long time.
These both are limited edition. Silk and Bloom Blush Palette is available at The Bay and Burberry First Love is available at Sephora and Burberry Canada.

Fall’s beauty trends are the opposite of no-makeup makeup: electric eye shadow swept across the eyes, berry lipsticks smeared over lips, and metallic pigments applied with the finesse of a Renaissance painter. This is so aptly described as the makeup trend for Fall 2017 by harpers bazaar. And going along with the trend for Fall 2017, Dior brings you a story of contrasts, the attraction of opposites, the alchemy of contradictory effects. These do sound big dreamy words from the point of view of a regular consumer or someone who loves makeup but does not know the depth behind the creation of it unless they use it and feel how the particular makeup product fits into the environment and season it is created for.
Peter Philips, the creative and Image Director for Dior Makeup, had the vision to explore possibilities of a season with opulent colors and rich textures, producing a clash of vibrant metallics and muted matte’s. This Autumnal collection is electrified by the glint of metal forms which is very nicely blended into the whole chemistry of women with personalities strong and fragile, sensual and subversive, insolent and always sophisticated at the same time. Fall is all about color, to dare and play with colors is an ongoing trend and here I present to you the Dior Metallics Fall 2017 Collection which has metal, color, sophistication, courage and a lot more. I was sent these products as part of Press kit and I have tried and tested them for over a week before writing this review.
DiorShow Metalizer Eyes and Lips (CAD $32 excl taxes) are the latest hybrid product from the house of Dior, which brings a new dimension to make up with highly pigmented eyes and lips. This hybrid product is inspired by professional makeup but it is designed as an intuitive, take the anywhere product. The little nozzle tube contains the metal-effect pigments encapsulated in an ultra-creamy, lightweight, quick drying textured formulation. The Metalizer is applied with a finger to leave a light veil of color with a chrome effect on eyelids. For a bolder finish, the Metalizer is applied with a brush like a screen of light with a lasting vibrant sheen. The product stays on well for over 10 hours.
Another use of this Metalizer is to use this on its own all over the lips or in touches over the lipstick to play with contrasts. The color of the packaging is same as the product inside. These are available in 6 shades, namely, 068 Silver Shock, 528 Platine Fusion, 548 Copper Power, 678 Bronze Tension, 828 Pink Pulsion, 898 Plum Reflexion. I have swatched 528 Platine Fusion and 548 Copper Power which are perfect for my skin tone and can be used for a chrome effect or for a full-on screen of light based on the method of application. I did not notice any irritation while using these on my eyes and lips. I think they are going to look perfect in the fall when you need a bit of punch to make you feel beautiful.
For Fall 2017, the iconic palette from the house of Dior, 5 Couleurs plays with the contrasts perfect for the autumn ranging between matteness and light. The new formula comes with boasted texture that glides beautifully on the skin. The palette comes in four different tones and effects of matte, satiny, glittery and shiny.
Swatched are the Dior 5 Couleur EyeShadow 077 Magnetize (CAD $72 excl taxes) which is a smoky harmony of 5 colors.
Magnetize starts from an almost frosted gray to explore a scheme ranging from platinum and silver to fiery charcoal. I have used this palette for few times and it has a nice gliding texture and there is no fall-out. The staying power is nice as well as the blending.
To contrast with the opulent hues and metallic effects on the eyes, face, and nails, shades of Rouge Dior (CAD $43 excl taxes) for Fall 2017 are designed to flaunt the strong beauty with a chic style statement.
The lipsticks are creamy as well as pigmented. The staying time is well over 5-6 hours and I have not noticed any peeling or dryness when I tested them.
The shades swatched below are Rouge Dior 999 Metallic and Rouge Dior 526 Sensual Matte.Rouge Dior 999 Metallic is the iconic 999 in flamboyant, almost orange red with metallic effect. Rouge Dior 526 Sensual Matte is a pretty, irreverent beige.
To pair with the new matching shades of Rouge Dior, the Rouge Dior Contour pencil (CAD $36 excl taxes) is designed to subtly line the lips and complete the look of well-defined lips. The lip pencil is creamy and glides on easily over the lip line. I did notice the lipstick stays on for longer than usual time with the lip liner and the shade swatched below is 948 Enigmatic Matte which looks perfect for even lining the lips with or without lipstick for my skin tone. There is a brush on the other side from the lip pencil which is very handy when you have to blend and use the lip pencil to fill in the lips. The Lip Contour is suitable to either use as a base for lipstick as well as to use it on its own. This Contour pencil comes with a sharpener.
Overall, I am really looking forward to using this collection’s in-trend metallics and bold colors for the fall. All these products are available at Dior Counters and from the respective retailer websites.
