Royal Fern is a skincare range founded by Dr. Timm Golueke, a renowned dermatologist, based on his interest sparked by the study where fern extracts were used in the treatment of melanoma patients with encouraging results. With the research and approach Dr. Golueke followed after the initial interest, it led to a very successful range of products with cutting edge cosmetic science, called Royal Fern. The formulas are luxurious and effective at the same time, composed of the best in class ingredients. I have been using a few products, in deluxe sizes from the brand, few of which are already empty. The kit is perfect for someone who is new to the brand or is travelling and want to carry the favourites while on the go.
The Royal Fern Facial Travel Kit comprises of 5 products, suitable for all skin types:
Phytoactive Cleansing Balm (50ml) – a gentle cleansing balm, very lightweight in texture and feel, apply and massages well into the skin. The skin is clean as well as nourished at the same time.
Phytoactive Anti-Aging Eye Cream (5ml) – It is very refreshing, not very thick, but lightweight and creamy – makes the eye area hydrating and reduces puffiness around the eye area.
Phytoactive Anti-Aging Cream (15ml) – It is a very nice, lightweight yet hydrating moisturizer, does not feels oily on the skin, absorbs well without any residue. works well under makeup or even during the night.
Phytoactive Hydra-Firm Intense Mask (15ml) – a beautiful luxurious texture of this mask makes the masking ritual very relaxing. Skin feels nourished, supple and radiant after using the mask. It can also be used as an overnight mask.
1 Phytoactive Anti-Oxidative Ampoule and 1 Phytoactive Illuminating Ampoule work well to regenerate and illuminate the skin respectively. Phytoactive Anti-Oxidative Ampoule is for the evenings when your skin has been subjected to stress, for example after excessive sun or in cities with high levels of pollution. Phytoactive Illuminating Ampoule helps the skin before important appointments or occasions.
“What with changes of climate, intensive sun exposure, dry air in airplanes, chlorinated water, and heightened environmental stressors, travel can be hard on the skin – making it drier or more sensitive. If this happens, supplement your care as needed with thin additional layers of cream, ideally containing plenty of antioxidants – these boost the skin during such high-impact phases. A Phytoactive Anti-Oxidative Ampoule, for example, offers the perfect supplementary care.” Dr. Timm Golueke, dermatologist & founder Royal Fern Skincare.
A lovely brand and beautiful products with solid science backing them up, Royal Fern Travel Facial Kit is the perfect way to try the brand or to keep your favourites with you while on the go. Royal Fern Products, including this kit, is available at royalfern.com, and Holt Renfrew.*Press samples
Since my last posts, here and here, with some amazing products from Leonor Greyl Paris, I have kept them in rotation in my haircare routine, repurchasing few, especially the Leonor Greyl Paris Huile Apaisante has been a staple for my problem scalp. With my medium wavy hair that is in need of volume and something to set the frizz and style in place, I am so excited to share a few of my current staples I am loving from the brand.
Shampooing au Miel is a gentle everyday volumizing shampoo works nicely for my thinning lifeless hair that needs a little extra help to make me feel confident and especially make me feel ‘me’. It is gentle for my scalp as well as my hair, does not dry them out or irritate my scalp. I do see a difference in volume, my hair looks fuller, are manageable and shiny. It is one of my favourite shampoos when it comes to volumizing and still gentle category. I follow up with a conditioner after rinsing off the shampoo.
I have one conditioner and one treatment in rotation depending on what my mood is and what my hair needs. Soin Repigmentant Dark Brown is a nourishing conditioner with colouring pigments that enhance the colour of hair. The dark brown shade I am using is for light brown to dark brown hair – I have black hair and this one works for me. It leaves my hair nourished, shiny, and bouncy. It did not irritate my hair or scalp. This colour-enhancing conditioner is best to be used between colouring – every 2-3 washes to prolong colour hold after every wash to intensify the tones. it has to be used from scalp to hair ends and replaces the normal everyday conditioner.
Crème de Soin à l’Amarante is on the other hand conditioning treatment that detangles as well as nourishes the hair. It is that everyday conditioner that makes the hair look healthy while keeping them nourished without weighing them down – even my thin wavy hair. There is also a UV-protectant in it to make sure hair is protected and stays healthy, shiny, and silky. An amazing conditioner!
For styling, I have been using two products from the brand – both are mists – Voluforme and Laque Souple. Voluforme is a styling spray for volume and hold. It is weightless and just makes the whole process and finish look so natural, hair is soft, flexible without any stickiness or crunchy feeling. It sets the hair and adds volume at the root instantly while looking natural at the same time. It is one of the best hair sprays for volume and holds that I have tried. It can be applied on damp or dry hair and even to set the hair at the end of styling – no rules – on the roots or on the hair.
Laque Souple is a lightweight styling spray with light to medium hold – it also does not leaves any residue or crunchiness to the hair – hair is soft and looks natural. The glossy finish makes the hair look healthy. It does provide a medium hold without stiffness – and it works on frizzy hair. I use either one of these sprays depending on what I am trying to achieve or use both.
I am really happy with the results of the products, a staple brand in my hair care routine. If you want to try the products, they are available in deluxe sizes which are also perfect if you are travelling. Since I shared about some of the products from By Terry Summer 2020 Collection in my post here, I know it was not just me but you also – waiting for more. There is not a single product in my post linked above which I am not using – I really like the brand for launching very practical and everyday use products for the busy day to day life. There are two new additions to the above collection which I have been testing for the last few days. Tea to Tan Face & Body Hydra-Bronzer, Face and body makeup brush, and Baume de Rose Lip Balm Summer Edition.
Tea to Tan Face & Body Hydra-Bronzer is a tea-infused liquid bronzer that gives a perfect tan glow to face and body. Depending on whether the bottle is shaken before using or not, it creates a warm, tan finish, with sheen or matte finish. The shade available is the universal ice-tea shade that suits all skin tones. I really like the packaging of it, the spray is very fine and applies well on the skin – blends nicely without transferring, and the longevity is very nice too.
There is a very fine shimmer in it which sits at the bottom and until it is shaken, it stays there. The non-shaken formula creates a sheer warm matte finish while shaking the water formula creates a deeper tan with a subtle shimmer. The formula isn’t drying at all but very lightweight, comfortable, and hydrating. The formula is easily buildable to get the desired level of tan – it is a must-have for head to toe matte or shimmer glow.
Face and body makeup brush is the newest addition to the brand’s makeup tools. The large silky-soft brush has an easy-grip handle. The brush is perfect to apply liquid or powder textures, the surface area of the brush and density of the bristles make sure the formula goes on smoothly and evenly with minimal mess – across the face, decollete, arms, or legs. I have used this brush to apply Tea to Tan Face and Body Bronzer and also to apply foundation – it works very well for both. It also applies the powder very well – can be a finishing powder, powder foundation, or even a blush.
Baume de Rose Lip Balm Summer Edition is the same cult-favourite product in a limited edition packaging. I have said it before and repeated it several times that Baume de Rose is my favourite Lip Balm of all time – it just works like a charm for my very dry peeling lips – providing them with all the nourishment to keep them soft and supple. The concentrated rose blend formula has a very velvety rich texture with a non-stick finish. This lip balm is my go-to for all year long.
Overall, the whole Spring/Summer collection and launches are beautiful – perfect for spring-summer. I highly recommend checking out the products. By Terry products are available at byterry.com, Nordstrom, Holt Renfrew, Barney NY, Beautylish, Spacenk, Cult Beauty, Netaporter.*Press samples
