La Prairie’s powders go beyond mere makeup, they are infused with active ingredients – ‘Makeup with Skincare benefits’ in true sense. The formula glide on flawlessly, perfecting while enveloping skin in a luminous, matte, sublime veil. They are available in several textures and shades, for the luxury of choice. Sharing in this editorial, the new Skin Caviar Loose Powder and the new Skin Caviar Powder Foundation which has been one of my finest and most luxurious experience with makeup – be it the formula, the touch of it, or the experience – the best.
Skin Caviar Loose Powder and Skin Caviar Powder Foundation are the newest launches from the Swiss brand which has been the leader in innovation and craftsmanship in the most luxurious and effective way. The launches have been on my radar since the brand first unveiled the first look and not just the makeup launches – the vision, craftsmanship, and the beauty of discovering something so precious and presented in a way that soothes your senses and skin is amazing. I am a fan of La Prairie Skin Caviar range and shared my favourites in the past here, here, here, and here.
La Prairie Skin Caviar Loose Powder is infused with caviar extract for complexion perfection – makes a perfect conclusion to an indulgent beauty ritual – the best you can offer to the skin after the skincare routine. Skin Caviar Loose Powder sweeps on lightly, embracing the skin with the most feather-light whisper of powder for a flawless finish. It illuminates the complexion and sets makeup for an all-day youthful, natural, shine-free finish.
The powder refines the skin’s texture, smooths the appearance of fine lines and problem areas while minimizing the appearance of pores. It does not make the skin dry but the Hyaluronic acid in it keeps the skin comfortable and hydrated, also preserves the level of hydration in the skin. It also sets the foundation for long wear and provides a natural, matte, luminous finish for a youthful glow. I am so in love with this powder, all you can ask for in a powder. The skin is matte and still looks radiant, youthful and naturally flawless. I have swatched the shade Translucent 2 which is one of the three available shades.
The powder is housed in the signature elegant cobalt blue jar with a convenient hinged lid. The attention to details is definitely worth the praise, there is a little click button on the loose powder which when clicked will open the holes on the top to dispense the powder when needed with a shake which is first of its kind for me as compared to the usual loose powder settings which kind of becomes messy when opened or shaken a little vigorously.
An amazing thing that La Prairie has always been a champion is that they have a travel jar complimentary with the full size of it, which I have adored in the past when I purchased their loose powder for the first time. Skin Caviar Loose Powder also comes with a complimentary portable jar for touch-ups during the day.
To apply Skin Caviar Loose Powder, ‘Open the lid and unlock the sieve by sliding the button. Close the lid again before gently shaking the jar to release the powder. Open again and with the accompanying generous puff or with La Prairie’s Loose Powder brush, apply to face in a swirling motion for a flawless look, starting at the forehead, working over the bridge of the nose, over each cheek and finishing with the chin, avoiding brows and blending at the hairline.’
Skin Caviar Powder Foundation is the first powder foundation infused with Caviar Extract for complexion perfection. The formula glides on flawlessly to envelop skin in a silky veil of complexion-enhancing colour. Skin Caviar Powder Foundation begins as a creamy base and sets to a cashmere-soft finish. The foundation is buildable, blendable coverage for a matte yet luminous, fresh look all day long. Like the other products from the Skin Caviar range, the powder foundation is housed in a sleek cobalt blue compact complete with two mirrors – both a regular and a magnifying mirror.
I have been using both the loose powder and the powder foundation for over two weeks. The Powder Foundation, like no other powder foundation I have tried, magically refines my skin’s texture, smooths the appearance of fine lines and problem areas while minimizing the appearance of pores. Same s the loose powder, it also keeps the skin comfortable and hydrated that means luminous to the eyes. The finish of the powder foundation is very natural, matte, and luminous. I do not tend to go towards powder formulas as they do look a little flat and lifeless on my skin but this one has changed my opinion, my skin looks radiant which is always my preference. I have swatched shade Golden Beige and Honey Beige, Golden Beige is closer to my skin tone.
To apply Skin Caviar Powder Foundation, ‘With the accompanying suede-like puff or with La Prairie’s Powder Foundation brush, apply with a press-and-roll motion, starting at the forehead, working over the bridge of the nose, over each cheek and finishing with the chin. Blend around the hairline and down the nose, avoiding brows. Continue to blend around the mouth, along the jawline and down the neck for seamless coverage.’
Overall, both the colour launches have really impressed me and would highly recommend you to try these out in stores or get a sample, they are well worth the investment when it comes to makeup with skincare benefits. La Prairie is available at Holt Renfrew, Nordstrom, and Saks Fifth Avenue.*Press samples
I am really enjoying Dermablend Smooth Liquid Camo Foundation, reviewed here, in the rotation when I need medium coverage and since using this foundation, I am really impressed with the Dermablend formulas for my skin tone and type. I was really excited to see Dermablend Leg and Body Makeup, something which I have not tried in the past – a cream foundation for the body. I have AllEven Spray-On foundation which was spray version as compared to this Dermablend leg and body makeup foundation I have been testing for a few weeks.
Dermablend Leg and Body Makeup is a buildable, transfer-resistant body makeup that can be used to cover a wide range of body and skin concerns, like as tattoo cover-up makeup or enhance body features for a flawless look. The formula is very pigmented and easily covers varicose veins, stretch marks, tattoos, scars, age spots, birthmarks and bruises.
Being highly pigmented, it is still lightweight, buildable and easily blends on the skin. The foundation does not dry the skin, keeps the skin hydrated and comfortable without smudging and transferring if applied and set as advised. Another nice thing I have experienced is that the formula does not look like a mask or cakey during the wear time but is very natural looking. This has become a go-to when I am wearing a dress or wearing short sleeves but I mostly use it on the legs as I have few scars and stretch marks on my legs, it just makes my legs look flawless and yet very natural. The staying power of it is really impressive, kept my legs as-is for a full day, I removed it in the evening after work. I have swatched shade 40W Medium Golden which is a bit more golden than my natural golden undertones for my skin on the body which is a little lighter than my face but I do make it work on the legs.
To apply it, a brush, a sponge, or even hands will work, I prefer a big sponge as in the picture. I have reviewed the Dermablend Loose Setting Powder here and it works pretty well to set this leg and body makeup. To apply,
step 1 apply: use long strokes to apply.
step 2build: for more coverage, allow makeup to dry before adding additional layers.
step 3 set: for 16 hours of wear, apply a generous amount of setting powder and leave on for 2-5 minutes; buff off.
