For Marc Jacobs, getting it right requires a little bit of wrong. “I see beauty in many things and I am attracted to all sorts of imperfection, to style, to confidence or experimentation. It’s unexpected and surprises you.” Inspiration stems from the spirit of “the girl” and her makeup ritual. “I think the idea of transforming into this person you want to be, is a lot of fun…it’s the idea of a young woman enjoying creating her look, getting ready for her night out, or her night after her night out.”
Since the time I got the sample of Le Marc lip creme with purchase from Sephora, a few years back, this brand has been in my good list, then I purchased the Air Blush Soft Glow Duo, the formula and the staying power impressed me. Then came the Mega Bronzer which was just as good and so my love affair with this brand started. I am not going to write about these in this editorial but the products I have been using for last few months and loving. The products include Marc Jacobs Re(marc)able full cover foundation concentrate – Shades discussed are 33 Beige and 36 Beige Golden, Marc Jacobs Style Eye-Con No. 3 – 110 The Shoe Gazer, Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara, Marc Jacobs Highliner – Gel Eye Crayon in 82 Femme (Violet) and 42 Blacquer, Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Lacquer in 312 Sugar Sugar, Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Creme in 254 True.
Marc Jacobs Re(marc)able Full Cover Foundation Concentrate
Marc Jacobs Re(marc)able full cover foundation concentrate (CAD $64) is described as an innovative foundation that delivers instant full coverage in a single dot. This revolutionary formula is described to offer twice as much pigment as a leading full-coverage foundation, but in an oil-free base that blends instantly across the complexion to completely cover pores, blemishes, and other imperfections with the thinnest possible layer that lasts up to 24 hours. All foundations are composed of two parts: pigment and ingredients to carry the pigment to the skin. Re(marc)able innovates by filling its formula with as much pigment as possible, leaving little room for non-essential ingredients, including water. Not only does it contain twice as much pigment as standard, full-coverage foundations, but these pigments are made of patented golden mica to give the complexion a more radiant, natural-looking glow. The pigments are wrapped in lecithin – an ingredient with a texture that feels similar to the skin—to blend effortlessly and meld with the complexion for a smooth, soft-matte finish.
I heard great reviews about this foundation before I started using this and I must say I am impressed, the foundation is medium to full coverage, I take a dot and apply on my forehead, cheeks, chin, and nose, then start blending it. It gives a beautiful natural medium coverage which can be build to full with an extra drop of it. The packaging as you see in the pictures is in a beautiful heavy glass bottle and the product is dispensed with the dropper kind of wand. The consistency is not runny and not thick, good enough to blend and glide easily. It does not cake or emphasize my problem areas. It feels very lightweight on the skin and the staying power is amazing, I have tested it for over 14 hours and it stays on quite well. As the formula is very pigmented, a small amount is what is required for full coverage. I am totally in love with this foundation and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for full coverage with lightweight and smooth natural finish. This is suitable for most of the skin types, especially normal, combination, and oily. As in the swatches, for my medium tan skin tone with yellow undertones, I am 33 Beige in winters and 36 Beige Golden in Summers, mixing both the shades also give me that healthy glow kind of look.
Marc Jacobs Style Eye-Con No. 3
Marc Jacobs Style Eye-Con No. 3 – Plush shadow (CAD $49) is a petite set of three plush eye shadows that harmoniously provide a creamy, sumptuous finish. It is a mini palette of shimmery metallics, buttery mattes, and lustrous sheens which are made with advanced pigments that allow true, instant color payoff and long-lasting, plush performance.
This eyeshadow palette in The Shoe Gazer 110 has peachy-bronze sheen/ matte taupe brown/ light turquoise blue sheen shades. The formula is very smooth, finely milled and glides on easily on the lids. The staying power is very good, without primer it did not crease or fade for over 7 hours and with primer, it was good enough for a whole day for around 12 hours. The formula is highly pigmented, and the packaging is so beautiful. This would be great everyday shadow palette or can be used for a dramatic look when the last turquoise blue shade is used. I have been using the peachy bronze and matte taupe on regular days and it looks beautiful, not overly shiny. To make it more dramatic and intense, a little spray of the makeup setting spray on the eyeshadow brush does the trick.
Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara
Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara (CAD $33) is described as an ultra-volumizing mascara that delivers instant dimension for epic lashes. The lash-maximizing, curvy brush places the most volume at the hard-to-reach center lash line, and the defining tip styles lash for major drama. The super-concentrated black pigment delivers the greatest visual impact, and the Flash Volume Complex™ creates instant, smudge-proof length and volume in three strokes or less. Velvet Noir gives you the thickest lashes in one sweep. Apply Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara on its own, or layer with O!Mega Lash Volumizing Mascara (sold separately). Pair it with Feather Noir Ultra-Skinny Lash-Discovering Mascara and Lamé Noir Ultra-Glittering Mascara (sold separately) to style your lashes for every occasion.
I have naturally long lashes and always look for products that do not make the finish gunky or smudge. I have been using this regularly along with my favorite Givenchy Mascara. This mascara lengthens, adds volume, and separates my lashes. It gives an intense finish and my lashes look fuller without any smudging throughout the day. One more thing I noticed is my lashes are soft with volume and not brittle like with few other mascaras. I go for one stroke for the day and two to three strokes for the night, it makes a great difference.
Marc Jacobs Highliner – Gel Eye Crayon
Marc Jacobs Highliner – Gel Eye Crayon (CAD $31) is described as a gel pot eyeliner in a crayon that delivers intense color and 12-hour waterproof wear and amazing glide in shimmer and matte finishes. This is extreme-wear, waterproof eyeliner that glides on effortlessly to deliver an instant color payoff. Exclusive to Marc Jacobs Beauty, the super-malleable formula offers the versatility of application. Apply Highliner for flawless, precise lines, or smudge immediately after lining for an instant smoky eye. It’s formulated with innovative gel ingredients, as well as conditioning vitamin E and rosehip seed oil. Its intense color payoff is available in an array of richly pigmented shades with two finishes: original shimmer or high-impact matte.
This has been in my makeup stash since ages, I just love this eyeliner so much, it is not new to me but I am reviewing it here with my favorite black shade which I have been wearing since a long time along with the shade 82 Violet which is new to me. This eyeliner never irritates my sensitive eyes and the staying power is really good. It does not fades or smudges. I swipe it on one time for a light definition of my eyes and for the intense definition to the eyes, I swipe it few times on the waterline to get the desired intensity. The formula is very smooth and glides without effort, it is one of my favorite eyeliner no doubt. The Violet Femme 82 – Orchid Shimmer is a shimmery violet and Blacquer 42 is a dark black.
Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Lacquer
Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Lacquer (CAD $35) is a high-shine lip gloss in covetable shades with lasting brilliance. It delivers maximum color and brilliance with its unique Triple Shine Complex, a blend of high-performance ingredients that provide unstoppable wear and shine like “30 coats of lacquer.” The brilliant shine contributes to an optical plumping look. And, Enamored feels cushiony on the lips, never sticky. This mint-scented lip gloss collection features a profusion of creamy pinks, shimmering lavenders, and iridescent brights that give lips a lush look with lasting color and unbelievable shine.
This lip gloss in 312 Sugar Sugar is a champagne gold shimmer. The formula is non-sticky and very comfortable to wear. It can be wear alone or as a top coat over a lipstick. The formula is not overly shimmery and can be used for daily routine. For me, it looks like a nude shimmery lip gloss, it did not dry my lips and is moisturizing. The texture is thick creamy but not sticky, the staying power of other products I talked about in this post is amazing. It is available in more shades which are beautiful.
Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Creme Lipstick
Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Creme Lipstick (CAD $38) is described as a rich, creamy lipstick that redefines luxury with instant indulgent color while providing 10 hours of wear. In just one sensual swipe, Le Marc Lip Crème Lipstick delivers indulgent color that lasts all day long. The unprecedented color payoff comes from concentrated color-boosting pigments that are triple-milled and enriched with hydrating ingredients—imparting ultimate long-lasting color and moisture. Your lips will feel instantly plumped and nourished from powerful peptides, antioxidant-rich seaberry, and natural humectants, including meranti and cocoa butter. Its subtle vanilla taste and scent mimic a decadent dessert. Just snap the case shut and hear a satisfying click, which Marc Jacobs describes as “the sound of luxury.”
This lipstick in 254 True is a beautiful nude and the formula is very comfortable to wear. The texture is very creamy and does not dry out my lips. The staying power is good, for me, it is around 5 hours. My lips stayed soft and smooth all day, even after the lipstick was worn off. I have few other shades in this lipstick and this formula is amazing. There are more shades from this line worth checking out when you are in store.
Marc Jacobs Beauty is a brand worth checking out and everything I have tried from them yet has never disappointed me, be it the formulas, shades, or packaging. These products are available at Sephora and Nordstrom.
Givenchy Beauty new launches for 2018, there is new formula and renewal of a product from Givenchy. Gloss Interdit Vinyl is a renewed product with a new formula, upgraded packaging, and a newly branded g-shape foram applicator which can be applied alone or as a top coat. Le Rouge Mat is a new ultra matte lipstick for intense and pure color with a velvety finish in a single stroke.
Givenchy Le Rouge Matte lipstick
Givenchy Le Rouge Matte lipstick (CAD $44) is a velvety formula that delivers vibrant, intense color in an ultra-matte finish. This product is packaged in a genuine black leather case, the exclusive signature of Maison Givenchy. The formula is very comfortable to wear, despite being matte, it does not accentuate even the dry lips. The formula is rich in pigment and a velvety semi-matte finish, it is combined with nourishing ingredients to keep the lips moisturized. One swipe of the color is enough to give a nice amount of color to the lips.
I have used the three shades that are reviewed and swatched in this post for a few times already and they all suit my medium tan skin tone. The shades would make a perfect addition to spring and all season round. The staying power is nice, for around 5 hours without touch up which is quite good.
216 Rose Graphique – rich, bright-pink
329 Rouge Stiletto – a classic red, flattering on all skin tones.
331 Pourpre Defile – electric purple
The formula glides on easily on the lips and contours without tugging. There are 6 shades available in Le Rouge Mat which are all wearable and would suit most of the skin tones.
Givenchy Gloss Interdit Vinyl
Givenchy Gloss Interdit Vinyl ( CAD $37) is described as a gloss with medium coverage for high-shine, naturally-voluminous-looking lips. The formula contains black rose oil which helps lips remain soft and supple with an absolute feeling of comfort. The foam end of this innovative applicator is stamped with a G to take up more product for a pleasant, even spread of color over the lips. G for Givenchy, G for Glossy, G for Glamour—Gloss Interdit Vinyl signs a new way of applying lip gloss. At once simple and precise, it sheathes the lips in dazzling color with a single stroke, making it a must-have for beauty addicts everywhere.
Shades 01 and 16 which I have swatched in this editorial are made-to-measure color boosters that react to skin’s pH for a result that is totally different from one woman to another. These can be applied as a top coat over any lipstick to intensify its color. 01 Rose Révélateur enhances the natural lip color. 16 Noir Révélateur is an audacious shade that enhances the natural tone of lips with an enigmatic depth. The formula is nice, does not gives the sticky feeling although it is thick, does not irritate my lips, the staying power is good.
I am a fan of Givenchy products and their formula, I reviewed 18 shades of the Le Rouge here if you are interested to read and see the swatches. Givenchy Gloss Interdit Vinyl and Givenchy Le Rouge Matte lipstick is available to be purchased at Sephora.
Diorskin Forever Undercover 24 hour wear full coverage fresh weightless foundation (CAD $64) is a new launch from the house of Dior. In this era of serial selfies, this high pigment water-based foundation combines maximum complexion control with a natural, true to life aspect for a no-filter, life proof finish that lasts 24 hours.
“Incorporated in a very fluid texture, the high concentration of pigments ensures perfect blemish correction. What is very new for such high coverage products is that you don’t feel or see it. The finish is fresh and matte enough so that you don’t need powder.” says Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director for Dior Make-up describing his perception of this neo-camouflage.
In the entire range of foundations, Diorskin Forever Undercover contains the highest level of pigments, almost twice that of the original fluid foundation. To avoid a mask effect, the mineral pigments are given a very specific coating that merges with skin providing an imperceptible finish.
I have tested and used this foundation for a few days already and impressed by the coverage, shade match, longevity, and texture. The packaging of the foundation as you see is in a sturdy plastic bottle with a dropper and the desired quantity comes out easily. Just shake and open the bottle, pour it on the back of your hand or put drops directly onto the face and start blending. I risked and used this for the first time for a traditional Indian Wedding hoping to get the full coverage that looks natural and luminous, something that stays on all day. And yes it did a great job. After that, I have used it few times to work.
The formula is water-based and thus fluid consistency which glides and blends easily into the skin. It blends in well with hands but I do prefer a brush for even coverage. Even the beauty blender will give a nice coverage. It feels very light on the face, like no makeup but still, you see that the coverage is amazing. It did not emphasize my pores or problem areas. The finish is semi-matte which is luminous yet natural. Another great thing about this is the staying time, it stayed on really well for over 12 hours for which I have tested. I did not notice any creasing or did not touch up during the day.
Diorskin Forever Undercover foundation is available in 26 shades from the lightest to the darkest which is a great thing. For my medium tan with golden undertones, I am shade 040 or 041 depending on the weather. Mixing both also does a good job for my skin tone. I have swatched both 040 and 041 in this post if you are interested to check my review about the Diorskin Forever Perfect Makeup Everlasting Wear Pore Refining Effect with SPF 35, I have linked it here. Diorskin Forever Undercover foundation is available at Sephora, Hudson’s Bay, BeautyBoutique by Shoppers Drug Mart and all Dior retailers.

Spring and Summer collections for makeup are already giving me bright and fresh vibes. Givenchy Spring/Summer Collection 2018 – The Face Atelier is inspired by Givenchy’s couture atelier design process and features a palette, glowy complexion products, kohl liner and new matte lipstick shades. “My starting point was the mannequin common to all fabrics, the Stockman. An anonymous, discreet muse that flexes gently but does not give way under the designer’s will, forcing a unique compromise: to fashion art to fit reality”, says Nicolas de Gennes, Creative Director of Givenchy Le Make Up. In this editorial, I am featuring Givenchy Atelier Couture Eye Palette, Givenchy Matte and Blur Primer Stick, Givenchy Mister Light Glow Highlighter, and Givenchy Khôl Couture Waterproof Eye Pencil.
Givenchy Atelier Couture Eye Palette
Givenchy Atelier Couture Eye Palette (CAD $82) is a limited-edition palette features four vibrant, matte shadows to enhance the eyes and brows. It has an innovative semi-rigid foam applicator for precision, these highly-pigmented shades can be used to create a versatile range of looks, from soft and timeless to bold and daring. The rich, deep brown symbolizes the wood of the stockman and acts as the perfect shade for structuring both the eye and brow. The orangey-red and navy blue recalls the designer tape used in the studios, while the white is an ode to the cotton canvas that covers the bust. The square applicator is like the chalk used by designers to sketch designs onto patterns.
The formula of the eyeshadow palette is very smooth and blends easily. The texture is matte. The pigmentation of the shades is good, right enough that you do not overdo even with a heavy hand, the swatches below for reference.
Givenchy Matte and Blur Primer Stick
Givenchy Matte and Blur Primer Stick (CAD $45) is described as a mattifying primer that’s also perfect for an instant touch-up. This stick mattifies complexion, blurs imperfections, and refines the appearance of skin texture. With passing time, the formula eliminates shine while keeping a luminous complexion with a transparent, soft, and velvety finish.
This universal pink shade can be applied to every skin tone. The stick format is easy to use and is also easy to carry everywhere. The finish is velvety matte effect to the skin all day long, great for daily routine or for touch-ups anytime.
Givenchy Mister Light Glow Highlighter
Givenchy Mister Light Glow Highlighter (CAD $44) is described as a golden glow highlighting pen that brightens and highlights the face. A single swipe of the brush gives a subtle, golden glow, and it’s easy to build up from there. This can be used to add a dash of refinement to the look with the chic, golden hints at the inner corners of the eyes, the tops of cheekbones, above the brows, and on the Cupid’s bow.
I used it today and still wearing it in the evening, the glow is so natural and luminous. I swiped the highlighter on the highpoints of the face after my foundation, you can use it on the no-foundation days to give that glow to your skin. The formula is very smooth and light and the same time blends in easily.
Givenchy Khôl Couture Waterproof Eye Pencil – Champagne
Givenchy Khôl Couture Waterproof Eye Pencil (CAD $31) is described as a retractable waterproof pencil designed to define and highlight the eyes with precision. Featuring a smooth, creamy texture and vibrant color, this long-wearing formula resists heat and humidity for all-day wear. This beautiful pale gold shade looks absolutely gorgeous in the waterline as a shimmering alternative to nude to get that awake and open eye kind of look.
The staying power is good, still going strong in the evening as I applied it in the morning. It would look great even for daily routine as it looks subtle yet makes a difference to the look. I reviewed eye essentials from Givenchy which I am using in rotation with this here if you are interested to give a read.
Overall, this is a beautiful collection and all the products are worth checking out based on what you need, whether for daily routine, occasional or as a collector’s item. Just to mention again, this is a limited edition collection. All the products in this collection will be available at Sephora.ca from February 16, 2018.

I’ve put together a little gift guide whether you’re looking for a little inspiration, hint ideas or something to treat yourself. I have divided the recommendations into separate sections, skincare, fragrance, and haircare which I hope will be helpful.
I will start with the skincare first. I have few products which I have repurchased, emptied, and few which I am testing and quite liking them. For the first step after cleansing, there are toners and essences.
Shiseido Eudermine Revitalizing Essence (CAD $78 ) is one of the first essences I purchased and I still love it. It is the oldest product from Shiseido and is prized for over a century in Japan. This softening lotion delivers immediate moisture and responds to changes in the climate to keep skin’s moisture level constant regardless of location or time of year. Subtly perfumed with an accent of rain-washed peonies that seems to relax your entire being. Skin radiates, its softness evoking that of a flower petal. The bottle is of heavy glass and looks very beautiful anywhere it is kept.

This light yet potent, hydrating and conditioning formula contains caviar water, a highly-concentrated infusion with active caviar-rich components to lift and firm. I purchased it a few years back for the first time and have repurchased it few times, it is a staple.

I received a sample of this eye cream with the purchase and I was hooked. This is one of my favorite eye creams, keeps the eye area healthy, plump, and smooth. It uses a unique formula to fight the five signs of aging in the eye contour area: dark circles, puffiness, fat pockets, wrinkles and sagging. It provides a rejuvenating boost for eyes.
Now for the face primers, they can be used on the face whether followed by makeup or not. Primers are available for most of the skin concerns like oil control, redness control, radiance-boosting, pore-blurring and many more. I have my picks which I am loving these days.

Same happens with me, now after few years, I still forget but I do try and keep deluxe size or full-size hand cream tubes in my bag, car, and on the vanity.
Maison Francis Kurkdjian A’ la rose scented hand cream leaves a delicately scented and moisturizing veil on the skin with nuances of Damascena and Centifolia roses. Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Extreme is Explosive. Addictive. and Seductive. The notes are Bergamot, Grapefruit, Cinnamon Leaf, Black Pepper, Lavander, Chilli, Saffron, Oud Accord, Tobacco Accord, Pimento, Cinnamon Leaf, Cumin.
Givenchy Gentleman is a warm and spicy fragrance. The notes of the fragrance are Lavander, Leather, Patchouli. The bottle, heavy glass and highly graphic, takes on a modern allure in timeless codes. It is belted in black, the name stands out in white.

Guerlain Mon Guerlain is warm and spicy fragrance. The notes of the fragrance are Jasmine, Lavender, Vanilla. The quadrilobe bottle, created in 1908, established itself as one of Guerlain’s iconic bottles. Simple and graphics, it echoes an alchemist’s bottle and owes its name to its stopper, which is formed from one piece to obtain a shape resembling four lobes.

For the hair, I am fan of hair oils, whether as a pre-wash or after hair wash. I massage the rich and moisturizing one’s with benefits for my itchy scalp as a pre-wash. For using after hair wash, I go for the one’s which help with the frizz, shine and control or the hair.
Moroccanoil Treatment (CAD $49) is described as Infused with antioxidant-rich argan oil and shine-boosting vitamins, this completely transformative hair treatment detangles, speeds up drying time and boosts shine—leaving you with nourished, manageable and smooth hair with each use. I have this oil since years and love the results I get from it. This is one of my most trusted hair product. My detailed review here.
Kerastase Elixir Ultime (CAD $57) is described as a versatile Beautifying Oil enriched with Oléo-Complexe for all hair types; made with four precious oils: Maize, Argan, Camellia and Pracaxi. With just a few drops hair is transformed, adding silky, weightless shine. I purchased this last year and have been using it on and off for both before and after hair wash, a nice addition to my hair oils.
Leonor Greyl Regenerescence Naturelle is described as a cocktail of botanical oils which help increase blood circulation, purify the scalp, stimulate hair growth and fortifies hair. I like how calm it makes my scalp.
Oribe Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil (CAD $62) is described as uxuriously light oil absorbs instantly to restore hair to its prime. Infused with a rich blend of jasmine, edelweiss flower, lychee, sandalwood, cassis, bergamot and argan extracts, each protective drop penetrates the hair to deeply condition, strengthen and smooth—imparting intense nourishment and incredible shine. Works wonders on dry, damaged and color-treated hair…Liquid gold. I purchased it for the first time two years back and repurchased this second bottle last year.
Another recommendation I have is the Universalist makeup bag from Sephora with the exclusive bleeding heart design by graffiti artist James Goldcrown. The makeup bag is called Bleeding Hearts – The Universalist (CAD $53). The bag is a nice size and the will be perfect to carry the makeup for a weekend or long trip. There is a seperate compartment for brushes on the top and the lower one is very spacious for all the makeup. The quality of the bag is good and it will last for a long time if you are looking for something like this whic looks cute and sturdy enough.
There are two new brushes from Sephora collection which I have been using regularly since last few days, they are dense and very soft. The collection is called Sephora Collection Pro Slanted Buffing Collection (Pro Slanted Buffing Detail #89 – CAD $38 and Pro Slanted Buffing #88 – CAD $45). They are perfect for applying the foundation and each brush features innovative slanted ferrule technology that hugs the contours of the face. The combination of the circular brush head and smooth dense synthetic bristles makes blending and buffing very easy.
The last recommendation is the Diptyque Set of Mini Candles (Baies, Figuier, Roses) – CAD $135. This is perfect for someone who loves home fragrances or wants to try these for the first time, what could be better to have the mini candles before splurging in the bigger size. I purchased this set last month as I have few large candles from Diptyque but these looked so cute and perfect for even taking it with me when traveling.
I have tried and covered many of products that I have used for either too long or for few days and which I think will be a great gift for someone or for yourself, for that glow, presence, and vibe that you would feel on the occasion with your love.
I have few more ideas in mind, I think this editorial is getting a bit too long. Let me know if you want recommendations and roundup on the face masks, more fragrances, hair care, home fragrances or makeup. For most of the products which I have already reviewed on the blog, I have linked them with their names to the original post, if you are interested.
