Philosophy is not a new brand for me but it is new for my blog, I am not sure why and how I did not share about their products on my blog yet – not that I have tried a lot from Philosophy but not few even. I used to love their 2-step micro-delivery peel, their body lotion, body wash, cleanser, and facial wipes. Philosophy is the wellbeing beauty brand launched in 1996 in New York and has a range of multi-tasking skincare products and feel-good scents. In this article, I am sharing three cleansing products from the brand which I have used for a long enough time, not recently but in the past – a few years back. When I received a gifted package with some cleansing essentials from the brand, that is what triggered me to check my blog, although I have shared these few times on my Instagram. I am sharing three products from Philosophy’s Purity Made Simple range – micellar cleansing water, one-step facial cleanser, one-step facial cleansing wipes.
Purity Made Simple Micellar Cleansing Water is powered by micellar technology and is a no-rinse cleanser that removes dirt, impurities and makeup for skin that feels clean, hydrated, toned and refreshed. I use it in the evening as a first step when removing my makeup, it is gentle on the skin including eyes and does not irritate my skin and eye area.
Purity Made Simple One-Step Facial Cleanser is an award-winning facial cleanser that is multitasking and its 3-in-1 approach to cleansing. It gently cleanses and melts away face and eye makeup in one simple step, while toning and lightly hydrating. This cleanser leaves skin feeling clean, comfortable and balanced. It does not leave my skin feeling dry or uncomfortable.
Purity Made Simple One-Step Facial Cleansing Wipes is a convenient, disposable cleansing cloth, perfect to keep in a purse, gym bag or travel bag to keep skin pure and clean whenever, wherever I go. The wipes work well to wipe away dirt, makeup and oil with no need to rinse, although I do follow with a second cleanse just to make sure. The skin feels clean, soft and refreshed after using these wipes. I usually prefer most of the days as my first step to removing makeup followed by second cleanse with One-step Facial Cleanser. I have one pack of these wipes in my gym bag and another one on my vanity. I alternate these wipes with the Micellar cleansing water.
Overall, these three cleansing products from Philosophy are always nice to have in my cleansing squad – they are gentle, even on the days my skin is behaving, and work well to remove makeup and dirt without making my skin uncomfortable. Philosophy skincare is available at philosophyskincare.ca , Sephora Canada, Shoppers Drug Mart, and Hudson’s Bay*Press samples
Guerlain has launched a new Primer or in other words, there is a new addition to the Guerlain L’Essentiel range. Here is the link to my detailed article from last year about the L’Essentiel Foundation. Guerlain L’Essentiel Pore Minimizer & Shine-Control Primer is a fresh, lightweight, and mattifying primer. Co-ordinating with the range, L’Essentiel puts 97% naturally-derived ingredients to work without compromising with the performance.
The primer is very lightweight, looks and feels very fresh on the skin. 1-2 drops are enough for my face and it blends in nicely into the skin without any residue. For my combination skin, this primer has worked pretty well to control the appearance of excess shine to balance skin and minimize the appearance of pores. It does not totally erase the pores or hides – which is not something real and natural but it makes the look of pores minimal. As I prefer a natural radiant makeup look, so this primer works pretty well with L’Essentiel Foundation as well as other foundations with a glowy finish. I apply this primer on my oily areas of the face – usually my t-zone, it makes the overall look very natural matte with minimized look of pores and shine is controlled.
Also, another important thing I have noticed is that this primer does increase the longevity of the makeup especially the base. I can not comment on how it will work on dry skin types for controlling the excess sebum but it definitely works to minimize the look of pores. For normal, combination, and oily skin types, this primer is an easy choice. And especially if you love L’Essentiel foundation, this primer makes a great pair.
The key ingredients that deliver the major specialties of this primer include Avocado Extract to help absorb excess sebum to keep skin appearing matte all day long and promote shine-free skin day after day and White Cocoa Bean Extract to help refine the look of pores and supports skin’s natural balance and barrier. Yacon Juice improves skin defence and balances the skin’s ecosystem. There is a subtle nice fresh scent to the primer when applied and dissipates very fast.
With skincare and makeup ingredients included in this newest launch from Guerlain, this is an easy pick-me-up to increase the wear time of makeup, to minimize the look of pores, and to control excess sebum and shine. L’Essentiel Primer is available at Sephora and will be available at other retailers mentioned below from the end of February 2020. Guerlain Beauty Products and Home Fragrances are available at Guerlain Boutiques, Hudson’s Bay, Shoppers Drug Mart, Saks Fifth Avenue, Sephora, and Holt Renfrew.*Press samples
Buxom has introduced two launches for lips – both for treatment, care of lips, and also to prepare a smooth and sexy base before applying the lipstick. Buxom has launched its first conditioning scrub stick which gently exfoliates lips for a smooth, supple, and sexy lip look with a tropical twist.
Power-Full Lip scrub is dragon-fruit-inspired, sugar-infused scrub stick that gently buffs away dry skin patches while nurturing papaya seed oil and conditioning mango seed butter pamper lips. This works as a perfect mess-free first step in routine to make the lips ready for colour. It can also be used in circular motions to ensure that the entire lip is exfoliated. Then the leftover can be wiped away with a dry or wet issue. The Lip Scrub is a white-coloured stick with the multi-colour dotted appearance and is named ‘Dragon fruit’.
Buxom has also launched a plumping and moisturizing tinted lip balm that blooms to a unique custom shade by reacting to the pH level of the lips it is applied to means the shade will be different for different people. This big, bold, plumping lip treatment is available in two new shades inspired by the best-selling glosses. It applies very smoothly like silk and lips look supple and comfortable at the same time. It can be worn alone or with any other lip product. These tinted lip balms also work nicely as blush – a little colour on the cheeks gives a balmy flush of colour and create colour harmony on the face. The three shades in this tinted lip balm are Big O (sheer pink), Inner Glow (Nude), and Dolly Fever (Mauve).
Both the launches came at the perfect time when the weather is cold and inside air is dry – making the skin as well as lips dry and peeling. I am enjoying both the launches for everyday use and they are keeping my lips moisturized, supple, and comfortable. Buxom Cosmetics are available at Sephora and Sephora.ca*Press samples
