To celebrate the holiday season, Guerlain has launched their 2020 Holiday Collection and the limited edition launches are beyond gorgeous. The holiday launches include Golden Bee Palette, Terracotta Golden Bee, Meteorites Golden Bee, and All in one Rouge G lipstick in a prestigious edition. I am going to review and swatch the Golden Bee Eyeshadow palette, Meteorites Golden Bee from the holiday collection and some new launches from the house that I have been totally enjoying.
Golden Bee Palette is a limited-edition eyeshadow palette that has 10 matte to iridescent shades which are perfect to create an everyday eye look as well as a special glam look for this time of the year. First of all, I am totally impressed by how sleek and luxe the case of the palette is. The elegant golden packaging is beyond gorgeous.
It includes a double-tipped applicator which comes in very handy during travel or for regular touchups and use. The palette gives the flexibility to work with smooth sheer iridescent shades which give a hint of glow while the matte shades give the opportunity to play with the pigment and its intensity. The formula is very creamy, smooth, applies and blends very well. The mattes work nicely to use for day to day makeup look, the satiny shades and the iridescent shades nicely work for a sophisticated, festive look.
Meteorites Golden Bee is the reinvention of the iconic meteorites in a limited edition colour harmony and packaging. Meteorites revisit its iconic sparkling golden case and are decked out in an embossed lid that celebrates the Bee, a symbol very dear to Guerlain. The new colour harmony is meant to add warmth and a delicate glow to the complexion. This new harmony is inspired by the emblematic shades of the best selling 02 harmony and includes a new golden pearl.
There are 6 iridescent and matte pearl powders for a luminous matte result, in tones of luminous gold to reveal glow, white and champagne gold to reflect the light, mauve to catch the light and green for a corrective halo effect. There is the signature delicate violet fragrance that I have always adored.
I have loved Meteorites for many years and have collected many over time. As always, I am so in love with this new limited edition version. I love how radiant and beautiful they make the complexion look. The powder is very soft and finely milled, a little dip in the product is all I need for the application. This limited edition version is suitable for all skin types and on my medium skin tone with golden undertones, it gives the most beautiful and subtle hint of radiance that is noticeable and yet very put together, perfect for everyday wear.
Now, coming to the new launches from Guerlain which I have been enjoying a lot. The sheer shine lipsticks in new cases are a new accessory I am keeping it on my desk, in my bag, and everywhere – there is one to suit your mood and place. There are two parts to the customizable lipstick I am talking about – one is the shade that you can choose based on your preference and the other is the double mirror lipstick case that comes in a variety of colours and finishes to choose from. I have two new double mirror cases in my collection including the new Ruby Passion and Quartz Illusion – both from the new Guerlain Stunning Gems Collection, inspired by the art of fine jewelry making. This collection is composed of 7 natural sheer shine colours with a gem-like facetted bullet and 8 exceptional jewel cases.
The formula of the Sheer Shine lipstick is so hydrating, creamy, comfortable and glides like a dream on the lips. The sheer luminous finish looks very elegant. I have Sheer Shine Lipstick in shade No 699 which is a beautiful magenta shade. I have Rouge G in No 000 Balm & Primer which is a lovely balm and lip primer combo in one. It is comfortable on the lips, not too thick but good enough to stay and prep the lips while keeping the lips nourished.
“The sweet, enveloping scent of a vanilla “floriental” leaves its incomparable mark on Rouge G de Guerlain. Top notes sparkle with a lemon, orange and bergamot accord. The rose and iris heart exudes sweetness. The vanilla and tonka bean dry-down gives Rouge G de Guerlain all of its intensity.”
And another newest launch from Guerlain is a new addition to my favourite Abeille Royale range – it is the new Abeille Royale Repairing & Youth Hand Balm that is launched at the perfect time when we are washing our hands more than usual and winter is almost here. The Repair and Youth Hand Balm nourishes dry hands with its rich, silky smooth texture that absorbs quickly without feeling sticky or leaving any residue. I have to agree that every product in the Abeille Royale range has suited me so well in the past few years and still continues to do so. My hands have been more soft, smooth, and nourished than usual since I started using this hand balm.
Overall, I am loving the holiday launches as well as the newest launches from the brand – they make a perfect gift for yourself or for the loved ones. There is an option for gift packaging the Guerlain products in a custom Guerlain box decorated with assortments which I am totally impressed with. Guerlain Beauty Products and Fragrances are available at Guerlain Boutiques, Hudson’s Bay, Shoppers Drug Mart, Saks Fifth Avenue, Sephora, and Holt Renfrew.*Press samples
I recently started using Espa Skincare products and I am very impressed by the philosophy and concept behind the brand. Espa Skincare is a natural skincare brand and is guided by the philosophy of whole wellbeing, focusing on creating naturally effective skincare products that not only deliver results but also uplift the mood by their luxurious textures and sensorial mood enhancing aromatics. The formulations are created from plant extracts, marine actives, and essential oils. Now, coming to the range I am going to share about in this editorial – Modern Alchemy.
Modern Alchemy is a range of products in the Espa Skincare that is inspired by harmonizing rituals of Ayurvedic healing, Chinese medicine, and Shamanic practices. The transformative textures and self-care rituals for holistic rejuvenation of skin, body, and mind truly take you on a sensual journey. I have been using three products from this range and they are truly what the range is about, as I mentioned earlier. I have been using The Purifying Polish, The Anointing Oil, and The Grounding Crystals.
“As humans, we desire a greater sense of connection and compassion and as a direct response to this, ESPA have carefully formulated the new Modern Alchemy Collection.”, Espa Skincare.
The Purifying Polish is inspired by ancient purification ceremonies. It is a creamy exfoliating balm (not gritty like usual exfoliators) that transforms into a deeply cleansing polish as it gently buffs away dead skin cells and impurities. Not just deep cleansing but it also moisturizes and smooths the skin leaving the skin delicately scented and glowing. The purifying polish has a beautiful relaxing aromatic blend of grounding Ylang Ylang, Ginger and Vetiver that soothes the body, mind and soul. I smooth the balm onto dry skin using fluid, circular movements travelling slowly and with intention across the body, breathing in the nurturing aroma before washing away under a shower of warm water. It smooths the skin almost turning into a light oil. My skin feels purified, rejuvenated, nourished, soft, and bright.
The Anointing Oil is a multi-purpose bath and body oil inspired by traditional anointing rituals. The oil is blended from pure, potent plant oils used for centuries in deeply soulful rituals of bathing and self-anointing. For a sensual bathing ritual, pour the formula under warm running water and immerse yourself into the bath, close your eyes and inhale deeply the intoxicating aroma. On emerging from your bath, the precious oils will coat the skin leaving it anointed with nourishing oils. This oil can also be used in micro-meditation rituals, wrist anointing, morning inhalations and scalp massage. The aromatic blend of grounding Ylang Ylang, Sandalwood and Vetiver truly ground skin, body and mind. The key ingredients include Andiroba Oil(Amazonian superfruit oil rich in natural vitamins, minerals and antioxidant properties), Hemp Seed Oil(a powerful antioxidant), and Sesame Seed Oil(It is known to benefit the heart Chakra responsible for unconditional love for others and self). I love how nourished, soft, supple, moisturized, and radiant my skin look.
The Grounding Crystals is a soothing salt soak inspired by ancient traditions that harness the power of minerals and water to re-energize and purify. The delicate detoxifying pink crystals leave skin feeling soft, nourished, and deeply cleansed. The aromatic blend of Ylang Ylang, Ginger, and Vetiver relaxes the body, mind, and soul. I sprinkle some crystals into a warm bath and swirl through the water, watching them dissolve. Then I breathe in their nurturing aroma and make it my intention to let go of any negativity as I sink my body into the fragrant water. I also love using it as a soothing foot bath to revive tired legs or a softening hand soak before an indulgent manicure.
I make it a weekly ritual to light my favourite candle from Espa and then spend some me-time while I use and relax with these amazing products. The heavy black glass jars look so luxurious and elegant. Overall, a beautiful range that nourishes the skin and now that we are in the middle of the pandemic, they are helping me so much to relax and unwind – not just physically but also mentally and emotionally. As the holiday season is almost here and the cold weather is already here, they will make a perfect gift for your loved ones. Espa Skincare products are available here, Lookfantastic US, Lookfantastic UK, and Skinstore.*Press samples
Lisa Eldridge needs no introduction, she is one of the best makeup artists that I adore so much. From sharing her knowledge, expertise, and love for makeup through her youtube channel, she has numerous clients all over the world. And same with her new makeup launches – the lip products are just superb- they are launched and they sold out – this has been ongoing since the launch. I am excited to try the newest lip kit from the diva, called Fantasy Floral Lip Kit in Velvet Ribbon.
The Fantasy Floral Lip Kits are available in five versions with different textures, finishes, and looks. The 5 kits have all the lip products for that specific shade namely lip liner, lipstick, and lip gloss. Each Lip Kit contains a ‘True Velvet Lipstick’, a ‘Gloss Embrace’ Lip Gloss, and an ‘Enhance and Define’ Lip Pencil. All the three products come in a very beautiful Luxury Velvet Makeup Bag designed in collaboration with the multimedia artist, Jon Jacobsen. The one I am reviewing in this post is the Velvet Ribbon Kit with Velvet Ribbon Lipstick, Glass Embrace Lip Gloss, and Enhance & Define Beauty Liner.
True Velvet Lipstick is a highly pigmented matte lipstick with a creamy texture and slight sheen, not a flat matte. The formula is lightweight, silky, and comfortable on the lips. It is non-drying and long-wearing. The bullet of the lipstick has the appearance of beautifully plush velvet fabric. Velvet Ribbon – True Velvet Lip Color is a vibrant, classic neutral/blue red. As per Lisa, this is the one classic pillar box red that every woman needs. “I named it Velvet Ribbon, because when I think of this shade I always think of a velvet bow.” This is truly the classic face brightening red that suits everyone. Good thing is that this blue red makes the teeth look whiter.
Gloss Embrace Lip Gloss is a smooth, non-sticky nourishing lip gloss with medium pigment coverage. I am really enjoying this lip gloss for my dry lips, it is very nourishing, lips feel soft and smooth – not just while this gloss is on but also after it has worn off. It is a true multitasker with lip care benefits in lip colour. Gloss Embrace Lip Gloss in Ribbon is a bold, universal red with a hint of blue. The medium pigment coverage looks great on its own or over the Velvet Ribbon True Velvet Lipstick. Now that I am working from home, I have been applying this gloss before sitting in front of my laptop – it just perks up my mood. It is a beautiful red lip gloss which is more of red glossy lip care.
The Enhance and Define ‘Beauty’ Liner in Ribbon is neutral in tone compared to the lipstick and a little deeper in intensity to add definition. The lip pencil has a gel formula that is very smooth and glides without effort, even on my dry lips. They are long wear and stay on like no other I have tried. once set, they do not smudge.
Overall, I am truly impressed by the shades and the formula of all three lip products in this kit. I can’t wait to try more from Lisa Eldridge – everything from the packaging, formula, and performance is superb. Lisa Eldridge Beauty is available here.*Press samples
