Givenchy Beauty new launches for 2018, there is new formula and renewal of a product from Givenchy. Gloss Interdit Vinyl is a renewed product with a new formula, upgraded packaging, and a newly branded g-shape foram applicator which can be applied alone or as a top coat. Le Rouge Mat is a new ultra matte lipstick for intense and pure color with a velvety finish in a single stroke.
Givenchy Le Rouge Matte lipstick
Givenchy Le Rouge Matte lipstick (CAD $44) is a velvety formula that delivers vibrant, intense color in an ultra-matte finish. This product is packaged in a genuine black leather case, the exclusive signature of Maison Givenchy. The formula is very comfortable to wear, despite being matte, it does not accentuate even the dry lips. The formula is rich in pigment and a velvety semi-matte finish, it is combined with nourishing ingredients to keep the lips moisturized. One swipe of the color is enough to give a nice amount of color to the lips.
I have used the three shades that are reviewed and swatched in this post for a few times already and they all suit my medium tan skin tone. The shades would make a perfect addition to spring and all season round. The staying power is nice, for around 5 hours without touch up which is quite good.
216 Rose Graphique – rich, bright-pink
329 Rouge Stiletto – a classic red, flattering on all skin tones.
331 Pourpre Defile – electric purple
The formula glides on easily on the lips and contours without tugging. There are 6 shades available in Le Rouge Mat which are all wearable and would suit most of the skin tones.
Givenchy Gloss Interdit Vinyl
Givenchy Gloss Interdit Vinyl ( CAD $37) is described as a gloss with medium coverage for high-shine, naturally-voluminous-looking lips. The formula contains black rose oil which helps lips remain soft and supple with an absolute feeling of comfort. The foam end of this innovative applicator is stamped with a G to take up more product for a pleasant, even spread of color over the lips. G for Givenchy, G for Glossy, G for Glamour—Gloss Interdit Vinyl signs a new way of applying lip gloss. At once simple and precise, it sheathes the lips in dazzling color with a single stroke, making it a must-have for beauty addicts everywhere.
Shades 01 and 16 which I have swatched in this editorial are made-to-measure color boosters that react to skin’s pH for a result that is totally different from one woman to another. These can be applied as a top coat over any lipstick to intensify its color. 01 Rose Révélateur enhances the natural lip color. 16 Noir Révélateur is an audacious shade that enhances the natural tone of lips with an enigmatic depth. The formula is nice, does not gives the sticky feeling although it is thick, does not irritate my lips, the staying power is good.
I am a fan of Givenchy products and their formula, I reviewed 18 shades of the Le Rouge here if you are interested to read and see the swatches. Givenchy Gloss Interdit Vinyl and Givenchy Le Rouge Matte lipstick is available to be purchased at Sephora.
Diorskin Forever Undercover 24 hour wear full coverage fresh weightless foundation (CAD $64) is a new launch from the house of Dior. In this era of serial selfies, this high pigment water-based foundation combines maximum complexion control with a natural, true to life aspect for a no-filter, life proof finish that lasts 24 hours.
“Incorporated in a very fluid texture, the high concentration of pigments ensures perfect blemish correction. What is very new for such high coverage products is that you don’t feel or see it. The finish is fresh and matte enough so that you don’t need powder.” says Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director for Dior Make-up describing his perception of this neo-camouflage.
In the entire range of foundations, Diorskin Forever Undercover contains the highest level of pigments, almost twice that of the original fluid foundation. To avoid a mask effect, the mineral pigments are given a very specific coating that merges with skin providing an imperceptible finish.
I have tested and used this foundation for a few days already and impressed by the coverage, shade match, longevity, and texture. The packaging of the foundation as you see is in a sturdy plastic bottle with a dropper and the desired quantity comes out easily. Just shake and open the bottle, pour it on the back of your hand or put drops directly onto the face and start blending. I risked and used this for the first time for a traditional Indian Wedding hoping to get the full coverage that looks natural and luminous, something that stays on all day. And yes it did a great job. After that, I have used it few times to work.
The formula is water-based and thus fluid consistency which glides and blends easily into the skin. It blends in well with hands but I do prefer a brush for even coverage. Even the beauty blender will give a nice coverage. It feels very light on the face, like no makeup but still, you see that the coverage is amazing. It did not emphasize my pores or problem areas. The finish is semi-matte which is luminous yet natural. Another great thing about this is the staying time, it stayed on really well for over 12 hours for which I have tested. I did not notice any creasing or did not touch up during the day.
Diorskin Forever Undercover foundation is available in 26 shades from the lightest to the darkest which is a great thing. For my medium tan with golden undertones, I am shade 040 or 041 depending on the weather. Mixing both also does a good job for my skin tone. I have swatched both 040 and 041 in this post if you are interested to check my review about the Diorskin Forever Perfect Makeup Everlasting Wear Pore Refining Effect with SPF 35, I have linked it here. Diorskin Forever Undercover foundation is available at Sephora, Hudson’s Bay, BeautyBoutique by Shoppers Drug Mart and all Dior retailers.

Spring and Summer collections for makeup are already giving me bright and fresh vibes. Givenchy Spring/Summer Collection 2018 – The Face Atelier is inspired by Givenchy’s couture atelier design process and features a palette, glowy complexion products, kohl liner and new matte lipstick shades. “My starting point was the mannequin common to all fabrics, the Stockman. An anonymous, discreet muse that flexes gently but does not give way under the designer’s will, forcing a unique compromise: to fashion art to fit reality”, says Nicolas de Gennes, Creative Director of Givenchy Le Make Up. In this editorial, I am featuring Givenchy Atelier Couture Eye Palette, Givenchy Matte and Blur Primer Stick, Givenchy Mister Light Glow Highlighter, and Givenchy Khôl Couture Waterproof Eye Pencil.
Givenchy Atelier Couture Eye Palette
Givenchy Atelier Couture Eye Palette (CAD $82) is a limited-edition palette features four vibrant, matte shadows to enhance the eyes and brows. It has an innovative semi-rigid foam applicator for precision, these highly-pigmented shades can be used to create a versatile range of looks, from soft and timeless to bold and daring. The rich, deep brown symbolizes the wood of the stockman and acts as the perfect shade for structuring both the eye and brow. The orangey-red and navy blue recalls the designer tape used in the studios, while the white is an ode to the cotton canvas that covers the bust. The square applicator is like the chalk used by designers to sketch designs onto patterns.
The formula of the eyeshadow palette is very smooth and blends easily. The texture is matte. The pigmentation of the shades is good, right enough that you do not overdo even with a heavy hand, the swatches below for reference.
Givenchy Matte and Blur Primer Stick
Givenchy Matte and Blur Primer Stick (CAD $45) is described as a mattifying primer that’s also perfect for an instant touch-up. This stick mattifies complexion, blurs imperfections, and refines the appearance of skin texture. With passing time, the formula eliminates shine while keeping a luminous complexion with a transparent, soft, and velvety finish.
This universal pink shade can be applied to every skin tone. The stick format is easy to use and is also easy to carry everywhere. The finish is velvety matte effect to the skin all day long, great for daily routine or for touch-ups anytime.
Givenchy Mister Light Glow Highlighter
Givenchy Mister Light Glow Highlighter (CAD $44) is described as a golden glow highlighting pen that brightens and highlights the face. A single swipe of the brush gives a subtle, golden glow, and it’s easy to build up from there. This can be used to add a dash of refinement to the look with the chic, golden hints at the inner corners of the eyes, the tops of cheekbones, above the brows, and on the Cupid’s bow.
I used it today and still wearing it in the evening, the glow is so natural and luminous. I swiped the highlighter on the highpoints of the face after my foundation, you can use it on the no-foundation days to give that glow to your skin. The formula is very smooth and light and the same time blends in easily.
Givenchy Khôl Couture Waterproof Eye Pencil – Champagne
Givenchy Khôl Couture Waterproof Eye Pencil (CAD $31) is described as a retractable waterproof pencil designed to define and highlight the eyes with precision. Featuring a smooth, creamy texture and vibrant color, this long-wearing formula resists heat and humidity for all-day wear. This beautiful pale gold shade looks absolutely gorgeous in the waterline as a shimmering alternative to nude to get that awake and open eye kind of look.
The staying power is good, still going strong in the evening as I applied it in the morning. It would look great even for daily routine as it looks subtle yet makes a difference to the look. I reviewed eye essentials from Givenchy which I am using in rotation with this here if you are interested to give a read.
Overall, this is a beautiful collection and all the products are worth checking out based on what you need, whether for daily routine, occasional or as a collector’s item. Just to mention again, this is a limited edition collection. All the products in this collection will be available at Sephora.ca from February 16, 2018.
