Cire Trudon Candles are luxurious candles known for their exquisite attention to detail, design, and quality. The history of Cire Trudon Candles begins back in 1643. It was during this year that Claude Trudon became the owner of a boutique on the rue Saint-Honore where he developed his activity as a grocer and candler. His candles were purchased to light parishes and homes. Utmost care was taken to make the candles. Its motto ‘Deo regique laborant’ meant ‘ They work for God and King’, ‘they’ being the bees. The wax is carefully harvested from the hive before being filtered, washed, and exposed to sunlight in order to obtain the purest white possible. The exquisite and perfectly white candles from the house were lighted even in the court of Louis the 15th and in the kingdom’s largest parishes. It was not just the immaculate color but the burning time of the candles was really long and they did not splutter. Even in 1789, the house supplied Versailles up to the last days of the Ancient Regime and survived through the French Revolution.
Then in 1811, when Napoleon the 1st was crowned, the house supplied the imperial court with the candles. The emperor gave his son only one present the day he was born, a Trudon pillar candle adorned with three gold coins showing Napolean’s profile, the Imperial Pillar Candle. In 2007, the company took the name ‘Cire Trudon’ and became a specialist in manufacturing perfumed candles. Today, it enlists well-known ‘noses’ to create perfumes for the stories it wishes to tell. Each candle is still dripped and made by hand, perpetuating a luxury manufacturing which helps perpetuates the skills of its founder, Claude Trudon.
Few of the striking features I would like to bring to your attention are below:
The wax formulas of the Trudon candles are the fruit of specific developments which are the source of its exceptional olfactory and burning qualities. When correctly taken care of, no smoke leaves a Trudon candle and no wax is left on the sides of the glass.
Each glass is unique and hand-crafted in Tuscany. Their shape is inspired by champagne buckets.
The wicks are made of cotton. One can find many types of wicks, characterized by their weaving and their diameter. The wicks are chosen depending on the shape and size of the glasses, as well as the burning characteristics of each candle.
Elaborated in partnership with renowned perfumers, all Trudon fragrances are developed with utmost care and patience. From the selection of raw materials, the trials in the in-house laboratory, until the final application in wax, many steps pave the way to the birth of a Trudon candle fragrance.
The beehive symbol pays tribute to the bees that contributed to the quality of the Maison Trudon candles throughout the centuries.
The Cire Trudon emblem is inspired by a bas relief found at the old Royal Wax Manufacture which used to belong to the Trudon family. Situated in Antony, near Paris, it now belongs to the Church.
Cire Trudon candles are the true luxury candles which showcase the highest quality and craftsmanship one can ever imagine. From the luxurious packaging to the rich, luscious scents combined with a long burning time, it is all one can expect from the prestigious house. In this feature, I am sharing three beautiful candles from the house which are an epitome of perfection in themselves.
Cire Trudon Abd El Kader
A gust of freedom blowing from the Mascara coast and the mountains picks up on its way the green scents of fresh mint, the rashness of fights, ginger’s hot and peppered air and the perfume of tea and tobacco from the Ouled Nail tribe. The keynotes fragrance are below:
Head notes are Apple, Blackcurrent Bud, Clove, Ginger, Lemon, Spearmint
Heart note is Jasmine
Base note is Vanilla
Born in 1808 near the town of Mascara in Algeria, Abd El Kader was a politician and military leader, as well as a writer, poet and philosopher who founded the Algerian state. Nicknamed “the friend of the French”, he was said to be enlightened and cultivated. A man who always fought with honour, he was highly respected even by his enemies.
Cire Trudon Madurai
Cire Trudon Madurai candle is part of Les Belles Matieres collection. The Duke of Tuscany first brought jasmine in India in 1690, a flower originally from Arabia. Whether fresh or dried, they still play a quintessential role in India’s myths, legends and daily rituals. At times, jasminum sambac perfumes loose-leaf tea; at others, it is braided into floral necklaces. Revered spiritually, the odorant flower turns into an offering in Hindu temples. The keynotes of the fragrance are:
Head note is Ylang-Ylang
Heart notes are Sambac Jasmine absolute
Base note is Benzoin Resin
In the Southern part of the country, Maduraï offers among the most beautiful temples of India. Well known for the culture of jasmine, it is also a significant Tamil cultural centre, built on the banks of the river Vaigai. The city draws its history from a legend saying that god Shiva blessed the ground with the divine nectar escaping its hair.
Cire Trudon Mademoiselle de la Valliere
The secret powers of a bare flower for the love of Louis XIV, Melle de La Vallière surrounded herself with a bastion of sweet and shattering intensity of tuberoses. Damp fragrance of an intoxicating love : from the King’s bedroom to her convent, Louise de la Vallière personifies this deeply sensual flower, whose plump and overwhelming scents represent true, dazzling and almost spiritual love. The keynotes of the fragrance are:
Head notes are Bergamot, Galbanum, Orange Blossom
Middle notes are Jasmine, Tuberose, Ylang-Ylang
Base notes are Benzoin Resin, Cistus, Musk
Françoise Louise de la Vallière was secretly in love with King Louis XIV, who made her one of his favourites. She bore him four children in the utmost secrecy. She crowded her bed with tuberoses to quell the queen’s suspicions “…by inhaling these scents that were so dangerous to her condition, she thought she was risking her life, but she hoped to save her honour”… (excerpted from “La Duchesse de Lavallière” by Stéphanie Félicité de Genlis). Abandoned for Athénaïs de Montespan who took her place in the king’s heart, she retired to Carmel and became “Sister Louise of Mercy”
The scents from Cire Trudon are available in form of scented cameo wax. The scented cameo wax goes on the ceramic dish of La Promeneuse. La Promeneuse is a decorative object designed to diffuse the Cire Trudon fragrances. After placing a cameo in the ceramic dish, light a night-light beneath it. The heated cameo will melt and spread its fragrance rapidly into the air.
La Promeneuse allows to easily change fragrances. Once the night-light is lit, the heated cameo will melt and spread its fragrance rapidly into the air. A scented wax cameo will diffuse 8 hours approximately.
I would highly recommend you to check Cire Trudon Candles, they have been around forever and they are the best, believe me! Cire Trudon Classic Collection is available at Gravity Pope, Putti Fine Furnishing, Pink Tartan, Avenue Road, and KANDL Artistique. Cire Trudon Madurai from Les Belles Matieres collection is available at Gravity Pope and Putti Fine Furnishing.
I have been a big fan of By Terry products, the latest being the Hippy Chic Summer 2018 Collection which I am constantly using since I reviewed them along with the new UV base and Mascara. I am so excited to share with you the new foundation base from the brand which I have been testing since last week. By Terry’s Nude-Expert Duo Stick features a half-foundation, half-highlighter formula that blurs imperfections and controls shine, leaving the skin with a radiant matte, filter-like finish. The foundation delivers buildable sheer-to-full coverage, while the highlighter adds a touch of luminosity.
As per the official description, ‘Get the best of both worlds with the foundation-meets-highlighter stick that gives you radiant, skin-filtering coverage in one swipe. Half of the stick gives you weightless foundation coverage with a matte finish while the other half adds a touch of radiance for a soft-focus, skin-filtering effect. BY TERRY Nude-Expert Duo Stick blurs imperfections and evens out skin tone with a flawless, just-like-skin finish.
- Intensive Mimetic Camouflage® technology absorbs, refracts, and diffuses light to camouflage fine lines, wrinkles, and other signs of aging
- Pixel-focus powder pigments seamlessly glide onto skin to blur imperfections
- The travel-friendly size and built-in blending sponge let you a skin-perfecting glow on the go
Swipe across your face and blend using the attached sponge applicator or fingertips. For spot coverage and touch-ups, tap the foundation side over trouble areas and blend. Glide the highlighter side over cheekbones, cupid’s bow, and brow bones for extra radiance.’
I am really enjoying this stick foundation with the radiant finish. By Terry Nude-Expert Duo Stick Foundation has twist-up stick on one end and a sponge applicator on the other end. The stick has two products in one, one half is the foundation and the other half is the highlighter.
By Terry Nude-Expert Duo Stick Foundation is a beautiful velvety smooth cream foundation in a stick which has buildable coverage. It glides on really easily on the skin and is very easy to blend. The foundation and highlighter in one give a really beautiful and radiant finish, it does not look like that the half highlighter part is more dominant but it is just perfect that it looks naturally radiant and a beautiful natural glow along with an even skin with medium coverage. I do use my spot concealer with this stick but otherwise, I do not feel the need to use anything to brighten up my undereye, it seems to be enough for me. The creamy formula does not feel greasy or heavy after application or even during the day but is lightweight.
Another great thing is the lasting power, I have been really enjoying this for over 7-8 hours and as the day passes by, it looks more and more natural and radiant, like it melts into the skin and makes the skin look so naturally radiant. I apply it straight from the stick and glide it from the center of my face outward. I blend with the brush, with my fingertips, or with the attached sponge, it is so easy to blend and work with. I am really impressed with how effortless it is to use and how easy it is to look glowy and radiant with an even skin. The packaging is perfect for me to keep this in my bag for touchups and even for traveling.
By Terry Nude-Expert Duo Stick Foundation is available in 10 shades which I have swatched below for your reference.
1 Fair Beige – Matte very fair foundation and sheer pearl highlighter
2 Neutral Beige – Matte cool light foundation and sheer pearl highlighter
2.5 Nude Light – Matte neutral light foundation and sheer pearl highlighter
3 Cream Beige – Matte warm beige foundation and sheer pearl highlighter
4 Rosy Beige – Matte cool beige foundation and sheer pearl highlighter
5 Peach Beige – Matte neutral tan foundation and golden pearl highlighter
7 Vanilla Beige – Matte warm tan foundation and golden pearl highlighter
9 Honey Beige – Matte deep tan foundation and golden pearl highlighter
10 Golden Sand – Matte cool deep foundation and golden pearl highlighter
15 Golden Brown – Matte neutral dark foundation and golden pearl highlighter
For my medium tan skin tone, my closest match is 9 Honey Beige as my base and 15 Golden brown for contouring my jawline and cheeks. As you see in the pictures, the highlighter in the first five shades have a champagne pearl color while the second five shades have a sheer golden champagne color highlighter. I like how the highlighter matches with the shades to suit the skin tones to give a natural radiance. There is a nice sweet scent in the formula but fades away pretty quickly.
Overall, this is a really nice everyday base if you are looking for something that looks natural, is lightweight, radiant, medium coverage, long-lasting, and luxurious. By Terry Nude-Expert Duo Stick Foundation is available at Saks Fifth Avenue, SpaceNK, Beautylish, Net A Porter, Barneys New York,
Shiseido has been a brand which I have used products from since almost a decade, either they were deluxe samples, then the products which I loved and purchased, either one or a few, the products have always been in my skincare routine. One of the products which I have repurchased a few months back is the Shiseido Eudermine lotion which I just checked that I have not shared much about, so it is on this list for my future posts on Shiseido. In this post, I am sharing few products from the brand which I have been testing and loving since last few months. I attended a very informative session about the new launches and the products this year in May and finally able to test a few products. Products include Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate, Shiseido Essential Energy Day Cream SPF 20, Shiseido Deep Cleansing Foam, Shiseido Clarifying Cleansing Foam, Shiseido Extra Rich Cleansing Milk, Shiseido Treatment Softner, and Shiseido Treatment Softner Enriched.
Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate strengthens the skin’s natural powers of defense, enabling it to build its own beauty. It enhances the benefits of skincare routines that follow. Smooth, supple, and with less fine lines – skin radiates with a healthy look. ‘After 20 years of research, 32 global patents, and 65 international beauty awards, Shiseido has made a breakthrough discovery that boosts your skin’s natural ability to protect itself and preserve your beauty with Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate.’
Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate is Shiseido’s best-selling serum which is even stronger than the previous formula with ImuGeneration Technology. It is powered with anti-oxidant rich reishi mushroom and iris root extracts, to strengthen skin, restore firmness and defend against daily damage for the skin. The new formula features an improved dewy texture that sinks quickly into skin, for a longer-lasting, silky smooth fresh feeling. It is suitable for all skin types. Use Ultimune as a pre-treatment to enhance the efficacy of your moisturizer or serum. I see makeup apply more evenly and flawlessly over the softer skin. ‘Use every morning and evening after cleansing and before moisturizing. When using with other serums, apply ULTIMUNE Power Infusing Concentrate first. Push the pump twice to dispense formula onto the palm of the hand and smooth evenly over the face.’
I have been really liking how light-weight it is, does not feel sticky, absorbs quickly, and gives a beautiful glow to the skin. I even took this with me for my vacation and it kept my skin smooth, fresh, and supple. My skin is combination, acne-prone and this serum is a really nice addition to my skincare routine. This is something I would definitely buy again, love the way it makes my skin feel and look.
Shiseido Essential Energy Day Cream SPF 20 is a silky smooth energizing hydrator with broad spectrum SPF 20 to protect against UV rays and pollution while counteracting dullness and dryness. It absorbs quickly into the skin, making it visibly smooth, deeply hydrated skin that glows from within. Essential energy is something your skin needs when it senses damage but needs the energy to activate it. The ReNeura Technology inspired by neuroscience reawakens skin’s sensors to better detect and transmit signals. It contains Ashitaba which is known for it regenerative powers, the vitamin-packed plant is known to protect mitochondria from damage and boost the energy efficiency of nerve cells to smoothly send signals. It has a nice uplifting fragrance with a hint of rose and jasmine combined with fruity scents of pear, slightly sweet lime, and a wave of orange. It fades away pretty fast and is not strong, very subtle. The cream is suitable for all skin types. If you see the picture, I have almost finished half of the jar, I do reach out for it very much. I like how it makes my skin look, very dewy and radiant, sits nicely under the makeup, does not breaks out my skin, does not feels greasy, and there is added sun protection. It is a multi-purpose moisturizer and perfect for the busy mornings, something that works and protects, will definitely buy again.
Shiseido Deep Cleansing Foam is a rich, creamy foaming cleanser that protects skin’s hydration as it whisks away trouble-causing impurities, pollutants and makeup for smooth, radiant skin. It contains Micro White Powder and White Clay to effectively remove excess skin-dulling surface cells, pollutants, and oxidized substances. It is formulated for all skin types and featuring InternalPowerResist technology, this cleanser helps remove impurities while softening and strengthening the skin. It can be used daily, in the morning and evening as the first step in the skincare regimen. It does not dry out my combination skin, it just gives my skin the feeling of being clean and smooth. I use it as a first cleanse in the morning and as the second cleanses in the evening.
Shiseido Treatment Softner is a 24-hour softening lotion that improves the appearance of fine lines, enhances skin’s clarity and refines texture. Formulated for Normal and Combination to Oily Skin and featuring InternalPowerResist technology, this softener helps strengthen inner skin defenses to protect skin from signs of aging and external stressors. Softening skin is a key step in the Japanese Beauty ritual to balance skin before treatments. It is used in the morning and evening after cleansing. I have been using this day and night and it has not irritated my skin or caused any breakouts. I do feel my skin is clear, refined, and soft since I started using it. One pump on the cotton pad is all I need for my entire face and neck. This softener is to be applied after cleansing and before the serum in the skincare regime.
Below are the products I have not tested as they are formulated for the dry skin types. I am featuring them here for you guys to know that there is an option for dry skin and for which, the same products formulated for combination skin are working for my skin.
Shiseido Extra Rich Cleansing Milk is a gentle foaming milk cleanser formulated for dry Skin and featuring InternalPowerResist technology, this cleanser helps remove impurities while softening and strengthening the skin. Moisturizing ingredients remain on the skin for a refined, dewy and plumped feel. It can be used daily, in the morning and evening as the first step in the skincare regimen. As it is suitable for dry skin, I have not used this but do plan to try it during the winters when my skin needs all the care and moisture.
Shiseido Treatment Softner Enriched is a 24-hour enriched softening lotion that improves the appearance of fine lines, enhances skin’s clarity and refines texture. Formulated for Normal, Dry and Very Dry Skin and featuring InternalPowerResist technology, this softener helps strengthen inner skin defenses to protect skin from signs of aging and external stressors. As this is formulated for dry skin types, I have not tested this but featuring it here so that you know there is something for all skin types and also for which the counterparts for the combination skin do work for me.
