Bee products are some of the world’s most effective natural repairing and healing substances. Guerlain Research has been working continuously with honey and royal jelly to create Abeille Royale: a skincare programme that scientifically proves their exceptional capacity to minimize the visible signs of ageing on the skin. As amazing is the cause that Guerlain is supporting and a part of, I would really like to explain a little about the history and cause before I shift my focus to the two new moisturizers I have started included in my skincare routine.
Honey is the key ingredient – for its healing power and revitalizing properties – not just for ingestion but also for application on the skin. There are two kinds of honey that are exclusive to Guerlain:
Ouesssant Honey – The quest for the most powerful bee products led Guerlain to Ouessant, one of the world’s purest ecosystems. Designated a biosphere reserve by UNESCO, this island off the coast of France is home to the Black Bee, a native species of the island. These bees produce a honey of unrivalled purity and truly exceptional properties: a “Grand Cru” honey. Rich in amino acids, trace elements and high in fructose-content, this honey offers the essential ingredients that are vital in the repair process of skin tissue.
Guerlain Exclusive Royal Jelly –
Royal Jelly is the most precious substance to be produced by bees. It is reserved exclusively for feeding queen bees and offers regal nourishment for the skin as well. Guerlain developed its own Exclusive Royal Jelly in order to guarantee its quality and purity. Guerlain has chosen to host the 200 hives, exclusively dedicated to the ABEILLE ROYALE skincare range, in La Ferté Saint-Aubin in Sologne, a region renowned for its wild fauna. This Royal Jelly is rich in exceptional nutrients and is a natural source of carbohydrates, proteins, lipids and vitamins. It is produced in a protected environment to ensure that the Royal Jelly is of optimal quality and to guarantee complete traceability.
There is beautiful video (linked here) which I have watched a few times already which gives a visual treat to the eyes and to depict the story behind the Black Bee of Ouessant, whose royal jelly grants us the most healing benefits.
Being Bee Eco-responsible, Guerlain believes that transparency and sustainability are the keys to preserve, develop, and pass our unique beauty heritage onto future generations. Therefore, Guerlain decided to entirely remake Abeille Royale’s jars for a design that’s more in step with nature. These jars are lighter, more compacts and offer up all the same capacity, just using 90% recycled glass.
‘In the name of beauty,
Guerlain is committed to
a more sustainable world.’
Guerlain was kind enough to send me the Guerlain eco-hive which is a sustainable and recyclable miniature hive containing the Abeille Royale moisturizers. The hive can be repurposed as a storage chest or for a beautiful display on the vanity. There are also two frames which hold the moisturizers in the hive and can be repurposed as photo frames.
‘The skin acts as a sensory interface with the outside world. Environmental factors and stress have a negative impact on the skin’s youthfulness, disrupting skin cell function, including cutaneous nerve cells. This is known as cutaneous “neuro-ageing” and it causes the signs of ageing to appear more quickly.
Inspired by the latest discoveries in neuroscience, BlackBee Repair technology expands the skin’s self-regeneration capacity for more comprehensive efficacy on the visible signs of ageing. It is incorporated for the first time into the Abeille Royale range of creams for smoother, firmer and more radiant skin. BlackBee Repair Technology is enriched with a derivative of vitamin C with revitalizing properties to help visibly enhance the radiance of the complexion.’
Guerlain Abeille Royale Day Cream combines BlackBee Repair technology and a vitamin C derivative to firm the skin, smooth wrinkles and fine lines and visibly enhance the radiance of the complexion. The cream’s silky, exceptionally fine texture offers optimal comfort without leaving a greasy film.
Guerlain Abeille Royale Night Cream combines BlackBee Repair technology and a vitamin E derivative to help combat slackening. It firms the skin and smoothes wrinkles and fine lines. The cream’s balm-like texture melts gently on the skin, without leaving a greasy film.
Both the Night and Day creams are suitable for all skin types, even the sensitive ones. To extend my ritual from Youth Watery Oil (reviewed here) and Double R Serum (reviewed here), these day and night creams complete my Guerlain Abeille Royale Skincare routine -my skin looks fresh, supple, and youthful.
Farmacy Beauty has new launches – two of which I have been using non-stop. The brand is not new to me, I have adored their Honey Drop Moisturizer and Honey Savior Balm in the past (reviewed here). I am using the New Very Cherry Clean Cleansing Balm and Honey Body Butter almost every day now and here to share my thoughts about them.
Very Cherry Clean – makeup melting cleansing balm with acerola cherry is a pink, cherry-scented limited-edition version of the brand’s Green Clean cleansing balm. I have not tried the Green Clean cleansing balm but it has been on my list to try after hearing some rave reviews on how gentle it is and how effective cleanser it is. The Very Cherry Clean cleansing balm is not just a nourishing makeup remover but this cleansing balm gently melts away stubborn makeup and impurities caused by pollution, without stripping the skin.
This balm-to-oil formula readily melts away makeup with a little massage and wipes away the makeup and impurities with a warm washcloth. This cleansing balm does smell like summer and who does not loves summer. There is no greasiness left on the skin after removing it, even does not feels greasy when applied or massaged, did not break me out. It is a really nice cleansing balm I am thoroughly enjoying.
Honey Body Butter – an ultra-hydrating body cream – the first-ever body cream from the brand and the newest addition to the Honey collection. This limited edition whipped formula is packed with antioxidant-rich honey and a triple butter blend for intense moisture. This body cream does not feel greasy, sticky or heavy, sinks in nicely into the skin and keeps my skin moisturized without making me feel the need to reapply – I know it just Fall and this might change in the harsh Canadian winter but I am pretty positive this is going to work. Skin looks supple, nourished and soothed while is comfortable. Again, an amazing launch from Farmacy.

Chantecaille is a brand that has set a luxurious standard in the world of modern, botanical skincare and cosmetics. Be it the flowers and their amazing natural abilities to heal and work in harmony with the body or the ground-breaking scientific advancement, meticulous formulation and personal commitment. Not just beauty but Chantecaille has also created a philanthropy platform that shines a spotlight on global environmental issues and supports conservation efforts around the globe. With superior textures, brilliant colours and revolutionary formulas, Chantecaille is a true luxury – both inside out. I have been using a few new launches from the brand for the last few days which I am so excited to share with you here.
Luminescent Eye Shades are a part of Africa’s Vanishing Species Collection. The collection of rich, pearlescent eye shadows is inspired by six beautiful creatures—cheetah, elephant, giraffe, lion, pangolin and rhinoceros—that are among Africa’s most endangered. All of these wild animals face common threats from shrinking habitats, conflict with local communities, and the illegal wildlife trade. Chantecaille is supporting six charities across the continent, from Namibia to Kenya, to help secure a future for these vulnerable species and the people who live near them. Out of the total 6 shades, I have 3 shades that I have swatched and detailed below.
Luminescent Eye Shades are pearlescent, light-catching eyeshadow washes the eye with multi-dimensional shimmer. The eyeshades apply well with the flat side of Shade and Sweep Eye Brush to create a shimmering wash of colour on the eyelid. The tapered side works well to blend and highlight the inner corner of the eye and the brow bone. They also work well both dry and wet depending upon how much intensity you want and what finish you are looking for. The formula applies well, did not fall off during the time after applied and set. The longevity is nice – a single dry swipe is good enough to give a little hint of shimmer and colour while it is easily buildable to a more intense finish. The embossing and packaging of the eyeshades is definitely gorgeous and feels related to the cause.
Pangolin – Dusky Lilac shade. ‘The pangolin is a shy, unique creature and is the most trafficked mammal on the planet, coveted for its keratin scales, which are falsely believed to have medicinal properties. The Tikki Hywood Foundation in Zimbabwe focuses on the rescue, rehabilitation and release of the pangolin and other illegally traded animals across Africa.’
Cheetah – Warm Champagne. ‘90% of the world’s cheetah population has vanished in the last century. Based in Namibia, Cheetah Conservation Fund is helping the planet’s fastest mammal win its race for survival by developing conservancies and teaching farmers how to manage goats and sheep with livestock guarding dogs, so humans and animals can thrive together.‘
Lion – Golden copper. ‘Kenya-based Lion Guardians transform Maasai warriors who once killed lions into lion protectors, using their traditional knowledge and new technologies like GPS to monitor lions and protect communities. This empowers local people with both a sense of kinship with lions and the means to participate in their conservation.‘
Shade and Sweep Eye Brush is a new launch from Chantecaille which works pretty well with the Luminescent Eye Shades. It is a unique, tapered brush designed for applying the new eye shades. The exceptional quality and cutting-edge fibres are beyond-soft vegan bristles are engineered to hug the eyelids comfortably, pick up precise amounts of product and give exceptional payoff. It does not irritate the delicate eye area and is so soft.
Lip Veil is a very lightweight lipstick that glides on the lips while providing nourishment along with a coat of pure, bold luminous colour. It is infused with FairWild and organic Baobab oil and leaves lips feeling incredibly smooth and soft. The formula is so beautiful, so smooth, creamy, and never dries out my lips. The pigment is medium-sheer and buildable to full with 2-3 swipes. The shades are beautiful as is the packaging. It has definitely become one of my go-to lip formula as it keeps my lips comfortable and smooth while giving a luminous colour to them.
‘Lip Veil was created to support Space For Giants, a remarkably innovative conservation team working to preserve the safety of elephants in Africa. With only 4% of the African elephant population still alive, protecting them is essential. Lip Veil supports Space for Giants and their work to protect elephants from human conflict and preserve their migration paths across the continent to keep them thriving for future generations.‘
I have swatched below shades which I have been using on rotation – it is hard to choose a favourite – surprisingly they all suit very well with my skin tone.
Protea – A warm, wearable red
Azalea – A muted berry rhubarb
Rock Rose – A subdued, burnt berry
Tamboti – A warm, wearable nude
Baobab – A tawny, mocha peach
Cheek Gelée is a hydrating liquid gel-cream blush that combines the freshness of an emulsion with the lasting power of a stain. It is sheer yet has vibrant pigments that add instant colour and luminosity for a radiant, youthful glow. The shade ‘vibrant’ is a flirty raspberry shade. The formula is very creamy and blends like a dream. It gives a beautiful hint of colour to the cheeks along with luminosity. I apply a small amount onto the face using fingertips and blend out.
Overall, as I mentioned earlier in this post, it is hard for me to choose a favourite, the new launches from Chantecaille have definitely become a part of my everyday makeup. Beautiful formulas and amazing cause – highly recommend you to check these out. Chantecaille Beauty is available at Holt Renfrew, Nordstrom, and Saks Fifth Avenue.*Press samples
