Aqua Celestia, launched by Maison Francis Kurkdjian Paris this year, is described as a heavenly fragrance. The idea and identity behind this fragrance are to feel good inside. The Aqua series from Maison Francis Kurkdjian Paris include Aqua Universalis (2009), Aqua Vitae (2013) and now Aqua Celestia (2017) which all are meant to make you smell and feel good. The Aqua series is Francis Kurkdjian’s interpretation of the diverse facets of the freshness of water, which is one of the vital elements of earthly life.
From the official notes about the fragrance, ‘Aqua Celestia forms a seamless bond between the blue of the sky and the blue of the sea, forging a path toward absolute serenity in a surge of fruity freshness. An emotional journey lulled by the harmony of the senses and the mind.’
The notes of the Aqua Celestia are Lime from Mexico, Cool Mint (Mitcham), Blackcurrant Bud Absolute from Burgundy, Mimosa Absolute from Provence and Musk Accord.
The fragrance is a fresh light-clean floral musk. When I wear this, I smell pure and clean. The first notes that touch my nose are fruity with the hint of fizzy, sparkling freshness. The mint is well blended and does not gives the sharp or strong hints. The blackcurrant darkens it, making it richer. Then comes the soft musky part with sensual floral notes which are very fresh and airy. The whole composition does make it a bright, buoyant and musky in a brilliantly complex, breezy and bubbly way.
The clean and fresh scent of Aqua Celestia will appeal to both men and women. The fruity floral might attract more feminine fans but the soft musky notes will attract both feminine and masculine, so it depends on how your skin percepts it. I think this will be perfect for summer and heat but I am liking it in autumn/fall season too. The longevity on my skin is for over 6 hours and then it stays on longer but stronger when projected close to the skin.
Aqua Celestia ($205 – 70ml, $375 – 200ml) by Maison Francis Kurkdjian Paris is available at Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, Net-A-Porter, Saks fiftFifthnue stores and also at the www.franciskurkdjian.com

In my previous post here, I reviewed two blushes from Surratt Beauty which have become an absolute favorite of mine. I also described how the formula of Surratt Beauty products is so unique and performs so well. I am going to review few more products from the brand which I have been using since last few days. ‘Minimal elegance’ is the phrase I want to repeat here in this post, Surratt Beauty is all about it.
Surratt Beauty Artistique Eyeshadow
A good eyeshadow will always have you covered when you need it, like when you are in hurry or you want that perfect eye makeup. It will be an easy step with great results. To achieve that results, all you need is a good formula. I am already a fan of Surratt Beauty product formula with just a few purchases from the brand. On the same lines of Japanese Slurry Leaves technique I mentioned in my previous post, the eyeshadows have a great formula.
Surratt Beauty Artistique Eyeshadow (CAD $22) is described to achieve a variety of eye effects, from a sheer wash of color to rich, saturated eye looks. The texture of the eyeshadow is finely milled but not powdery. They are very easy to blend and the pigmentation is good. They can be used dry or wet. The staying power is decent, they do last a whole day on my eyes. They are buildable and do not feel dry. The packaging is very lightweight and in little plastic pans which can be fitted in the customizable palette. I have the swatches for shades mentioned below (from top to bottom):
Poudre is described as matte soft peach
Grey Gardens is described as cool grey with shimmer finish
Enchantress is described as metallic black with metallic finish
Surratt Beauty Lipslique Lipstick
Surratt Beauty Lipslique Lipstick (CAD $37) is described as a twist-up lipstick alternative that’s lighter than lipstick and more sophisticated than a gloss. This lipstick contains spherical pigments that build opacity with every layer. The color goes from sheer to creamy for endless, alluring lip looks. The packaging of the lipstick is in a black case with Surrat printed over it and is very lightweight and a perfect travel companion.
The lipstick is sheer but buildable. The formula is moisturizing and does not dry out my lips or emphasize the lines. The shade Hevyn which I have swatched below is described as a glistening rose and has a very natural glistening kind of finish. The formula is very lightweight and looks natural but polished lips. The staying power is decent and the shade range is nice too.
Surratt Beauty Lip Lustre
Surratt Beauty Lip Lustre ( CAD $35) is described as a moisturizing, sheer lip gloss that looks fresh for hours. The shimmer lip formula features a sheer, non-sticky gloss that builds intensity with each coat. Its silicone-flocked spatula tip ensures that color is applied with precision. The formula is thick, little sticky and the staying power is amazing. It is not overly sparkly and not flat, it makes the lips look better without looking extra. It looks nice alone or over the lipstick. I have swatched shade Teinte which is described as a sheer white tint. It looks nice when I wear it alone, my lips look shiny but not sparkly. It stays on well for a decent time and is moisturizing at the same time. When topped over other lipstick, it gives the original shade a nice shine and enhances the shade.
Top to Bottom – Surratt Beauty Automatique Lip Crayon – In the Flesh, Surratt Beauty Lipslique Lipstick – Hevyn, Surratt Beauty Lip Lustre – Teinte
Surratt Beauty Automatique Lip Crayon
Surratt Beauty Automatique Lip Crayon ( CAD $37) is described as a super-saturated lipstick crayon with a light, balmy feel, and matte finish. The slim, twist-up crayon needs no sharpener. It is formulated with polymers and copolymers, delivering high-intensity color with a hydrating matte finish that holds fast for at least six hours. The formula glides on smoothly and very matte. The staying power is decent as mentioned above too. I am very careful with matte formulas as they do dry out my lips. I would suggest to exfoliate and moisturize the lips nicely before applying this lip crayon. Once applied, it stayed put for around four hours. The shade ‘In the Flesh‘ is described as fleshy nude and on me, it is the perfect nude. It is a nice addition to my nudes but I do prefer berry, red or pink shades in my lipsticks.
Surratt Beauty is available at Sephora Canada, Sephora, Barneys New York, Liberty London, Mecca and Net-A-Porter

Surratt Beauty is a brand that has been on my wishlist for some time now, it is looked upon as a brand which has a unique perfection. If you do not know about Surratt Beauty, sharing some excerpt from their website here. Surratt beauty is a visionary collection designed by top new york city make-up artist Troy Surratt. Fueled by his passion for beauty, Troy created a line of artistic products that enable you to express your individuality and make a lasting impression. His customizable approach allows you to explore endless possibilities. Utilizing mesmeric colors and sumptuous formulas, Troy had devoted nearly a decade to develop and realize his eponymous line. Surratt Beauty Artistique Blush, as the other products in the line, is one of a kind.
I have been following Troy Surratt’s work and the kind of perfection I look forward to in someone, I am his fan. Then came the beauty products from his line, I am sharing my first purchases from this brand that I have been loving. I purchased Surratt Beauty Artistique Blush (CAD $35 – 4g) in shades ‘coup de genie’ and ‘Cherubique’ from Sephora last month. I was eyeing the shades ‘parfait’, ‘Chaleur’ and ‘La Vie En Rose’ which was out of stock for the time I had them in my cart, I see them come and go online, next time for sure. First thing first, the packaging is very pretty, the pans are a good size, like the size a blush brush or a highlighter brush can nicely get the product. The pans are meant to be kept in the palette that is available separately. At the moment, I have two blushes from this line, I am going to get the palette with the next blush I buy from them. Otherwise, the packaging, if you want to have it as a single shade, is not very sturdy. And that is the only thing I can say which might not be suitable to some of you. Now let me start with the product inside those pans.
The texture of the blush is very fine, they are pigmented and blend very easily. The product is made with an exclusive Japanese Slurry leaves method which makes the product very soft with a satin finish on the skin. The Japanese tradition of minimal elegance is what is implemented here too, the product in the pan might look dark or light but once applied it gives the most beautiful natural glow and color. I have been impressed with the texture and the results. A small amount is all that is needed and the results are amazing. Coup de Génie is a champagne highlighter and Chérubique is a gleaming rose shade.
Both shades leave a very natural lit from within glow. I top up Chérubique with Coup de Génie on the highpoints and that is what I need for the prettiest glow and color on the cheeks. Using them, my skin looks healthy. I actually I went to my mom’s wearing these and she complimented me on how beautiful my skin looks, so I had to mention that these do give that natural healthy glow. I have not been wearing these to my work as I think they look a bit extra for the office environment but they are my companions on the weekends and evenings. I am definitely going to check the shades I mentioned above for everyday use first and then indulge into more.
I would highly recommend these blushes to anyone looking for natural glow and color to the cheeks. They are best of their kind and you will love the texture, finish and the look once you try them on. I am just praising and praising these, do not think it is sponsored or gifted or something, I purchased these myself and when a product is that good, I always stress on at least trying them once and that is all for today. I have a post with review and swatches of Artistique eyeshadows from the brand here. Surratt Beauty is available at Sephora, Barneys New York, Liberty London, Mecca, Net-A-Porter Sephora Canada.
