Being a fan of Eve Lom Cleansing balm, it was natural for me to be excited for the new Eve Lom Gel Balm Cleanser from the brand. I do love a good balmy or gel kind of cleanser, especially for my first cleanse in the evening and first cleanse in the morning. Coming from the brand with the cult favorite balm cleanser, this naturally had to have high expectations. I have been using this cleanser as my first cleanse in the evening to remove makeup or sunscreen and then as a first cleanse in the mornings most of the days in the week to give it a good try before writing this review.
Eve Lom Gel Balm Cleanser (CAD $78 – 100ml) is claimed to deliver the ultimate cleanse that Eve Lom is famed for in an easy to use gel balm texture. As the Gel Balm Cleanser is massaged into the wet skin, it gently transforms into a milky balm texture that leaves skin soothed and blissfully soft. Unlike traditional gel cleansers that leave skin feeling tight and dry, this cleanser is fortified with moisturizing Shea Butter and nourishing Grapeseed Oil and is clinically proven to moisturize skin for up to 12 hours after use. The hybrid gel-to-balm formula is enriched with our iconic signature blend of Clove, Eucalyptus, Hops and Chamomile Oil which are proven to dissolve impurities and all traces of makeup, including waterproof mascara. When combined with the Shea Butter base, a lightweight botanical aroma is created.
As for the first cleanse, it has worked really well at removing my makeup. My skin was not irritated or had any breakouts when I was using this. It is advised to be used on wet skin but I have liked it both ways, on the wet skin as well as on the dry face followed by a massage and then emulsifying with warm water. My skin felt clean and nice, no dryness residue. Just to be safe, I do follow up with a double cleanse in the evening. But in the morning, I just use this cleanser either on my wet face or directly onto my dry skin, massage it and then emulsify it while massaging.
The aroma of this product is quite noticeable but I do like spices and scent of all things natural, so it was a pleasing and relaxing experience everytime massaging this onto the skin. The Clove in this cleanser is a great ingredient to help with acne, blemishes, and pigmentation. Eucalyptus is both anti=bacterial and anti-inflammatory, Chamomile is a natural soothing agent for skin, and Hops is a nice antioxidant. So, Overall it is a nice cleanser and is going to be the perfect skin partner for cleansing my face, moreover, if you are thinking to start using a gel balm cleanser, it is the perfect weather to get started, that is how my affair with gal balm and balm cleansers started.
